Hi. I thought the HUD looked sharp and very legible in person. And the digital speedo appeared a bit larger than the one in the instrument cluster. I know it is not easy to see this in the photos, but I added it to my must have option list (and started grumbling about not being able to combine it with my prefered cloth).

I caveat this postive legibility comment by noting I don't know how the relative size compares to the one in the 5-series, and that I obviously didn't dynamically test it while driving. But it was easy to read at a glance while sitting still.

Thanks! That's a "pet peeve" of mine too, and I had to wait until the crowds dispersed after closing time to get the long shots. I'm glad someone noticed!

[QUOTE=jasemsport;15343765]The 4gc doesn't have a pop up spoiler like Dackelone already mentioned above. Also 5-door like 3gt but sportier, actually it's just the 4 coupe with 2 extra doors and another boot lid, it even has the same roofline i think.
I saw it there in Brussels, it's a nice car i loved it...QUOTE]

We had to wait a couple of hours but we could go te see the car with a group of thirty people at 15.00u.
At the first room we got a few glasses of champange a headphones and a small fabric white pouch with the tekst print on(for your eyes only)where we had to put our cell-phones in so that we could make no pictures of the car.
Then the car!!! very beautiful car!!!
The car on display was a saphirs black 420d with M-sport package on 19 inch 442 m sport rims and blue sport brakes.
Interior full dakota white, beige oyster and the sport seats.
But no pop up spoiler like on the 3 gt.
than the most inportant information!!!
car can be ordered in march for delivery June or Julie this year and now the best news in Belgium the price of the 4 serie gran coupé will be the same as the coupé

Excellent. Thanks for answering my question! The pricing and availablity information is particularly intriging. I've wanted a sporty rear drive practical hatchback for a long time, but BMW NA has continually frustrated me with the limited wagons it has allowed in the USA in the past 10 years (mandatory Xdrive [which means slow steering an no proper sport suspension], automatics, glass roofs, etc). I had a rare E39 M-packet 540iT I regretted selling as I have never come close to being able to replace it. And I'm hoping the 4 gran coupe will be avaible without Xdrive and without a panoramic roof. I'm committed to an M3. But if a RWD 4 gran coupe is available for the same price as the 2-door, my brother will buy one for sure. And if there is an M version in a few years I'll cash in my early M3 for one.

I wish I had not missed this great opportunity for a first-hand look, but your information answers my main questions. Thanks again!

Not a decision I have the pleasure of making. At the minute the M3 looks better. But give it a couple of years and I believe the coupe M4 will be more desirable.

Having seen some 4 series on the road they do look better than the 3. Even though I drive a 3 and am very happy with it, the coupe will win out in the looks department eventually.

If you need 4 doors get the M3 otherwise the M4. It's that simple.

Based on these pics, and what I saw, I indeed also conclude I like the M3 more than the M4. Actually, I dont like the M4 at all. In dark colors, the M4 will look even more unpleasing.

Anyway, everyone has his own taste of course. But they could have done a better job on the rear of the M4. Too bad.

As you note, everyone has his own taste, but I think BMW made a mistake in not making the flared rear fenders on the E92 and F82 more like the ones on the E45. On the E46 the flare is sharper as it more closely wraps around the wheel. On the later cars the whole fender is puffed out. This is smoother and "otter sleek" as I have heard it described (and don't think I will forget?).

To my eyes the sheet metal (or plastic or carbon fiber) on performance cars looks best when tightly wrapped around wheels with an aggressive stance. Large smooth fenders just don't look tightly wrapped. Plenty of people think the Jag E-type is one of the most beautiful and elegant shapes ever, but it doesn't look well planted on the road. And I don't think the E92/F82 look as planted as the E46. My view. Which is as good or as worthless as the next.

I agree. My knowledge of English is not as advanced as you so I cannot really describe what I see 'wrong' with the rear end side of the M4, but how you describe it, pretty much sums up what I'm thinking. The rear end side of the M3 does look a lot better, more 'balanced'. On the M4, it looks odd.

M3 looks awesome. Love the rear AND side view. Reminds me of E39 M5.

I hate the flat black panel, but if it were optional that would be cool for those that like it.

Hi. I have several photos of the dark blue F30 and its Mperf wheels (I assume you mean the one in the background of the photo?). I will try to post here, or send you a PM.

That sounds really ricey.
I think it's worse that they dropped the extra support for the legs on those otherwise gorgeous seats.
:-)
The small badges, is not that big a torn in the eye.
And surely, they will not glow by themselves.

Hi. I was definitely concerned about this issue as I have long legs, and I find the lower cushion is too short on many seats to provide comfortable support. Indeed I didn't even think the extendable thigh support on the E46 M3 seats worked correctly as it seemed to get lower on my car as it extended adding no noticeable support. Very few sporty car seats have as long and as comfortable a lower cushion as almost all old school Porsches. That said, I found the seats in the F80/2 to be very comfortable. Obviously this was just sitting still on the show floor and not with dynamic loads, but I sat in them for at least 20 minutes, and for sure they were better than the seats in the E46.

Well, let me caveat that. I think the seats in the E46 felt a lot harder. If I sat just right in the German specified posture they could be all-day comfortable (my longest single day in my E46 was 800 miles when I drove across the country in 3 days). But if I slouched or didn't sit exactly straight ahead careful to maintain even pressure everywhere I would get sore spots. I felt like I sunk down into the F80/2 seats more, and they were more instantly comfortable. We aren't talking C5/C6 Corvette seats here (I had a C5 for a couple years as well), but softer than the hard and slippery E46 seats. I thought the E46 seats felt substantial and well built, but in leather they were next to worthless for holding me in place at the track (nothing like stock, and especially sport, Porsche seats).

All in all my initial impression of the F80/2 seats is very positive. They aren't a full on track seat, but they should be both very comfortable and supportive on the street. And even without the extendable thigh support they are tall person friendly. Better even than the two most recent M3 seat designs. Other opinions (just like body shapes) are likely to vary.

Regards
