I've done multiple EDs during late october/early nov, and it's not a problem at all. Even the Swiss passes are open - I drove Sustenstrasse amongst others 18 months ago in the last week of oct. weather was fine. average temp in oct is 58^F and 46^F in november.

That said, past the 2nd week in Nov is getting slightly risky and Austria requires winter tires after Nov 1. Germany only requires them for "wintery conditions" and France and Italy have no laws. Switzerland doesn't either except on passes, but it's pretty easy to know if there's been a storm or not.

Net-net is, I wouldn't hesitate to do an ED in Oct or early november - if there's a freak storm you can always just drop it off or have them do it.

October is very low risk.

EDIT: Here's somewhere near Interlaken the last week of October - bring shorts

Here's the top of the Sustenstrasse pass at about 7200' the last week of October - all the other passes (like furka, etc) were open and fine as well:

nardo grey pushed my production week from 38 to 43, and i ordered 3 weeks ago. November is probably most likely for your production week.

My Tanzanite order which I placed very early June was just pushed back to 42 from 37 as well.

I too have an order for an Atlantis Metallic M3. After seeing the beautiful photos of the car on here, I just had to order that color. It is so dynamic and striking! Too bad the build is scheduled to start on Week 43... That is soooo long from now. I probably won't receive the car until the beginning of January 2017 and I am in the Los Angeles area.

BMW sure charges ALOT for an individual color. I was thinking about Long Beach Blue, but since it is a M2 color and also the X5M, I decided to not do it.

No kidding it should be standard!

Would have saved me months and $$$$'s trying to get an individual blue! Which I still don't even have a date for again.

Hey guys I tried searching "individual" and got a ton of hits. Where is there a list of special order individual colors that have been ordered and can be ordered? Is there a sticky somewhere?

Thanks

Colors that CAN be ordered? Almost anything if you know the paint code. You have to ask your CA.

Here is an index of some colors that have been ordered.

kyleb350 is correct. the process is simple.
1. pick any color you want
2. your sales rep submit it to BMW indiv
3. BMW indiv says yes or no
4. if yes they give you a price (if it has been done before it avg 5k)(if it has not it avg 7250)

then you sit back and wait. Indiv orders vary in time but def will take longer then a std order.

I spoke to BMW Genius yesterday and they told me I was scheduled for last week of September for my Frozen Black build (week 40 I think). They told me that was production START (I thought the week is usually production FINISH).

Regardless, being in the NYC area, would it be fair to assume 4-5 weeks to go from production finish to delivery at the dealer? Based on the stick thread, maybe a week or so from the factory to the ship, another 2-3 weeks on the ship and then another week to get from destination port to dealership appears to be the general guideline.

It sounds about right. Based on information I've gathered and speaking to various BMW genius, my SA, my SA's manager, etc., you can expect it around late October. This is optimistic of course, as the timeline you have assumes there's no holdups at VPC, or delays anywhere else.

I live in NYC as well, and was given an optimistic timeline since my car arrives at the NYC port. After the vehicle goes through VPC, it really shouldn't take long.

Oh, and I have to say this - BMW's "genius" really aren't very insightful. I've contacted them at least 6-8 times since my car has been ordered and every time I've spoken to a person, they have told me something different in terms of build dates, when it'd be finished, when I could realistically expect it, etc. I told my SA of the discrepancies and he said "don't listen to BMW genius, I started out there before I became an SA and they really don't know much."

My new Daytona Violet F80 is scheduled to be complete 10/3 for my 10/19 ED.

FYI, Genius told me that the delay in the individuals (The ones you can't buy on the web site) are delayed as they are painted on a different line then all the rest. This info is for the F80's only, as the others are made in a different plant.

Looking for wood with BLACK accent, if anyone knows of one. I think the black accent is why it was rejected.

nardo grey pushed my production week from 38 to 43, and i ordered 3 weeks ago. November is probably most likely for your production week.
