Carbon Fibre Front Splitter Fitment - Help needed....

Hi all.

I am after some advice and but also to see how your dealer fitted your carbon fibre front splitter as I'm not sure mine is right.

See photo below.

Does this correspond with yours? I appreciate this is effectively a modification but these parts are M Performance parts. There may well be some modification to the car to make them fit correctly but this doesn't look right to me. The cutting of the small black flaps on the original car appear to have been crudely done but the outside under tray sections look to me like they should be tucked underneath the main under tray as opposed on the outside as shown below. Does that correspond with yours?

Any help and photos would be appreciated.

Andy

Does that piece screw off? When I had my kit fitted something black and plasticy was removed. I didn't pay a great deal of attention at the time but it could have been a part like that. Hopefully of some help knowing a part somewhere does get removed.

No it doesn't appear to screw off. It seems to be part of the side section of the under tray and I suspect the bit that has been cut off is the section (flap) that you can usually see on cars that do not have the carbon splitter. It just doesn't seem right to me.

Are you able to provide some photos of that section of your car perhaps?

You can try a longer bolt and try tightening it down to at least close the gap

I did think about that but it doesn?t seem to fit. It seems to me that it needs to be modified to be tucked under the main tray rather than the outside. Some photos of other figments would be really handy if possible.

When I get home, I can send you a pic of my under tray and see how it looks compared to yours. When I installed my lip I had to cut a portion of the under tray so it might be possible that you may have to trim a little more for a proper fit

This.

We were discussing the lower part of the splitter on Monday and he told me he had to use longer bolts etc.

TBH that's put me off getting the front lip to go with the carbon splitters.

Here?s what mine looks like. That flap you see should be behind the lip and serves aerodynamic purposes. Looks as if whomever did the install cut too much of those pieces off.

This is what it should look like (and is exactly how mine looks) if you read the BMW installation instructions

That?s great thank you.

I think there is a general issue with the fitment of these parts. The man in America appears to have this cracked and also Coopers in Reading.

Here you go

Pictures of mine and also a snip of the part in the BMW instructions where it specifically tells you to cut the bit off that is still there in the pictures from the chap in America. You could argue that leaving that bit on blocks the airflow over the splitter and reduces its effectivness

Apologies it was raining

Thanks for doing this. Seems to be a few ways but clearly mine has been done very badly. Looks horrendous and can?t believe it left a main dealer like this.
