So, IMO, the comparable times say that the E92 M3 did 8:05 and so did the F10 M5. Meaning that under similar circumstances and same driver, the E9x M3 and F10 M5 lap same time around the 'Ring. When BMW says the M5 CP is 10s faster than the M5 non CP and further say that the F8x is 15s faster than it's predecessor. Then that, to me, means the F8x still is 5s faster than the M5 CP around the Nürburgring... (Because the E9x M3 and F10 M5 have set identical comparable times under similar circumstances. So if one is 10s faster and the other 15s faster, one obviously is 5s faster than the other) |

Good observation. If one actually reads the SportAuto article testing the M5, it in fact did the 'ring in 8:05. I really don't know where people (including Fastest Laps) get this information.
As far as any time differences quoted by BMW, those are BMW factory times..notice how they never mention the actual time of their tests, but only relative differences (eg 5 secs faster, etc). BMW does not quote SportAuto times. Quote:

BTG lap is slower vs SportAuto lap because is during tourist season and you can't hit full speed on that straight (its entry and exit)...add +10 secs at least to a BTG time to get SportAuto time for comparability.
edit: meant to say BTG lap is shorter, thus the lower times. Quote:

So here it's 21s added to a full lap on the BTG time. |

Here we go again, every f***ing post about the new M3/4 over the last few days has ended up turning into yet another Vs M5/6 post with the same culprits responding every time a performance increment or time is posted about the new M3/4 obviously desperate to show how much faster their car is than these new cars.
M5/6 is faster in every respect than the new M3/4. Done. Now please go back to M5 board and stop boring the rest of us.

And why not compare the F8x both to E9x, F1x and other sports saloons? |

I always wondered how much the 155 mph limiter affected the laps times that were able to be posted by the E92 m3's. Have felt that a delimited car would be significantly faster on some parts of this fast track. The E46 CSl M3 has held the M3 record for around a decade. The new M4 with the drivers package and 174 limiter should equal or beat that time.

Maybe I'm in the minority but it's getting very tedious.

The m5/6 campaign machine has hijacked those threads as well as this one. It was entertaining at first, but it's become pretty redundant and sad. The insecurity and hate is baffling. |

No way the M3 and M4 have identical times around the ring......
The sedan M3 is more aero stable towards the rear/trunk area. The M3 will hold a faster time than the M4................just saying. and the 7:50 time? Pics or it didn't happen........

Best effing line so far... Who gives a F, it's a more expensive luxury car that has lost it's value very quickly so they have to show something for their under water investments :-)

To be fair 805 was with 6 speed for e92 as wellas on pPS2 tires. The f80 is likely with dct and super sports. Given tires alone could make up 10 seconds, I'm not sure we looking at a true huge gain
