Does anyone have a 6 speed manual M3 or M4 in the Vancouver area?
Hi everyone,
I live in Coquitlam and I am considering trading in my 8 speed automatic 2013 335 xdrive for a 6 speed 2016 340 xdrive or a 6 speed 2016 M3. I previously had a 2002 330 xi, 2006 330i, and 2008 335 xdrive all with 6 speed manual. I am on the fence between the 340 and M3 because even though I love the looks of the M3 I am thinking the M3 may be overkill for my driving needs and I also like the all weather stability of all wheel drive. One of the key deciding factors obviously is how the 6 speed manual drives but I have not been able to find one with manual transmission on the dealer lot. Does anyone in the Coquitlam/ Vancouver area have a M3 or M4 with manual transmission that they would be willing to take me out for a drive in? If you are concerned about me driving your car I wouldn't even necessarily have to drive your baby.......hopefully just a drive in your car will give me a better idea. If it works for you I could meet you at a location of your choice during the week during the late morning or early afternoon. Cheers, Rick Last edited by SPACEMANRICK; 09-23-2015 at 01:31 PM.. |

It looks like there is no one on this forum with a manual M3 or M4 in the Vancouver area to let me have a seat in their car to check out how the 6 speed M3 handles on the road. I am pretty sure that I would go for a 6 speed manual 340i or M3 but is there anyone in the Coquitlam and Vancouver area willing to let me check out their DCT M3 or M4?
Depending on your comfort level I could meet you at your house, at somewhere public, or even at my house in Coquitlam. No problem if you don't want me driving your car....... I think I should be able to get a good enough an idea about the car from the passenger seat especially if you have the adaptive suspension. I was not too impressed with my dealer (who I have bought 3 BMW's from) when I was in checking out their showroom so I figure this would be a more relaxed informal way to check out the M3 or M4. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help out |

Go for the M3. That's really the pinnacle of the M car. After all, the 335 vs 340 is not a major step up as long your budget allows. I would step up to this without hesitation.

You need to go to another dealer if they don't have it for test drive. There are like 5 BMW dealers in the Vancouver area. I went to 3 of them and they all offered me a test drive when I told them I am interested in a m3.
Having said that, you would have one hell of a time trying to find someone to let a stranger test drive their 80-100k performance sport car. |

Hi Lups..........great to know you have my back!
If I had known that I would have stopped in to see you when we drove through on the way to Portland 2 weeks ago. Come to think about it again, traffic was horrible in Seatlle so I just wanted to get through Seattle as fast as I could |

Well, I have an M4 as a manual, and you're welcome to test drive it. At evening time I can easily drive up close to the border since I need to (and I'm not even kidding) test drive my latest led settings.

Oh great so I am going to tell my wife that I am going to take a short drive down to the US to meet up with the infamous and mysterious fem fatale “lups” to go for a “test drive”. I can just imagine what will be running through her mind when I tell her that In all seriousness, thank you very much for your kind offer! Treeboy is 10 minutes from me and he has graciously offered me a ride in his DCT M3 and hopefully that will give me enough of a taste to see if I should go for the M3 or stick with a 340 or consider other options. |

Hahaha, infamous. That's a new one! It's a different car as a dct. I have enough miles done in both to know I wouldn't have bought it as such, so find a manual if you can. Wives are more than welcome always to drive my car too. Actually, I try to get them to do it since we truly need more females to the roads that share our interest. Sure, this makes me a tiny bit of a hypocrite since I don't let my husband even sit in mine unattended.

I placed my order yesterday for a 6 speed manual 2016 M3 in alpine white with orange interior. The only options I ordered was the premium package and the adaptive suspension. Thanks to Treeboy for the test drive in his DCT M3 last week and thanks to Lups for your offer to meetup at the border to test drive your 6 speed manual!
Now the wait..........expected delivery date is the end of December |
