Ordering Carbon Fiber Package deletes Heated Steering Wheel

So, I just received my 2017 M3 a few weeks ago.
I thought it had a heated steering wheel, only to find out...that it doesn't.

I couldn't understand why it didn't, because Heated Steering Wheel is a STANDARD feature on the M.

After some digging and talking to my sales manager - here is what he sent me(see attached image)

Apparently, for SOME strange reason - when you order the M Performance Carbon Package (ZCF or ZCP) it will DELETE Heated Steering Wheel

I dunno why...cuz this makes absolutely ZERO sense.

I even talked to one of the service techs, and he doesn't understand why either because my steering wheel doesn't have any carbon fiber on it (carbon fiber is a conductive material. so for sure if the wheel had any carbon fiber on it...heated steering wheel would not be an option)

There was a M3 with the Ultimate Package at the dealership, which also had carbon fiber package...and THIS car has Heated Steering Wheel.

The only thing we can think of is it's something to do with the codes for these features, because it makes no sense why one M3 with the Ultimate Package which also has the M Performance Carbon Package has the heated steering wheel, .....and my vehicle with the same M Performance Carbon Package doesn't.

But - I just thought I'd post this here for future reference for anyone ordering this package. Be aware that you will not get Heated Steering Wheel. (In Canada for sure...other places, I don't know)

I'm OK with it, because I would prefer the Carbon Fiber Package over Heated Steering wheel. I just wish I had known this upfront, instead of being surprised after the fact...that's all.

But with that Carbon package you got the alcantara steering wheel, right?
That would be the reason why then.

No - the M Performance Carbon Package does not come with the alcantara steering wheel.

So that is not the reason why.

This has been discussed here a few times. The carbon package did originally include the alcantara steering wheel, which removed the heated feature. When they removed the wheel from the package, the heated feature wasn't re-added for some reason. I assume it was an oversight by BMW Canada, but I'm really surprised it hasn't been addressed yet.

While the ultimate package does have all of the items in the carbon package included in it, it doesn't include the carbon package code itself which is what deletes the heated wheel.

I installed the Electronic Steering Wheel, no more heated steering wheel... Oh well.....
