Took my M3 in for an oil change and was pleasantly surprised to get an M4 ZCP (YAS Blue). Even had the performance skirts
Power: it could have been placebo but I felt it had slightly more get up than my car and the throttle response felt more crisp. I set the M drive settings to match my car as soon as I got in. Sound: I LOVE the exhaust burble. I was bliping the throttle just to hear it. The start up sound is pretty rad too with that growl. As soon as I got back in my M I could tell the difference. I thought the ZCP sounded great. Another note: the 3-2 downshift that can be so rough in my car was so much smoother in the M4. Though I will say I still like the M3 more from a styling perspective (which is why I got mine after all). The ZCP wheels are really nice. I didn't like them at first but they are sharp. I could see myself in an 18' M3 ZCP |

lmbo... I never get M loaners on the West Coast. When I was on the East Coast, I would get 535 M-Sport loaners and stuff. Now I just get X1, 328, etc.

I've never seen an M loaner in the fleet at dealerships I've been to. I've gotten everything from X1, X5, 5 series, 3 series but never an M. Interesting.

Of all the "high end, not yet exotic" cars I've owned such as the M3, M4, M5, M6, Jaguar F-Type, etc..
I've only ever gotten 328i, Jaguar equivalent to base 3 series, and a BASE model 528i ONCE as a loaner. Not even a 335i once! |

The sportiest loaner I’ve gotten was a M235i and nicest was probably a loaded X5.

I've had a 540 and an X3 as loaners thus far. Neither holds a candle next to the F80.
The 540 interior felt cheap - plastic everywhere. To be fair, full leather in the F80 makes any plastic/synthetic interior feel cheap. Would probably have been fine with the 540 interior but for this. |

Needless to say, switched dealers -- had a 340i last time which is better.. Wish I got an M lol.

High maintenance crowd. Just glad to get a car. Barrier Porsche gives you enterprise rentals.
Got a 535 hatch recently. What a pile. Amazes me people spend so much money on something that’s not special at all. M or bust. |

My dealer is very good about loaners but there is no way they would use an M for that purpose. I suppose if the dealership is large enough to have M demos (mine in Tucson is not) it would be a possibility.
Personally, I don't think I want an M as a loaner from a dealer. I probably wouldn't turn it down because I would likely not be mentally able to, but I just want a stress free form of transportation while my car is in for service. Now, for about 5 years when my friend owned a high end BMW independent shop here in Tucson, my loaners included an E46 M3, an E92 M3, an E60 M5, an E63 M6, and a 2011 1M (which I almost bought from him). Special times, but he knew that I would treat his cars as my own.

+1. Dealer put me into a 530i many months ago when i took my vehicle in for service. Reached into the glove box to toss my paperwork in and couldn't help but notice the Monroney sticker. That thing stickered in the mid-$50k range. Couldn't believe it.
