[QUOTE=M6-Coupe;16287086]This real world is less than 5 second if you time it

I'd hope so. Even my 335is with DCT can do less than 5 seconds.

Maybe the solution to M3/4 having better real world 0-60 times is to improve the LC...I have seen several youtube videos even with BMW instructors using LC that couldn't get better than 4.6 secs due to wheel spin...obviously AWD cars have huge advantage from a standing start....BMW needs to figure out a way to be able to lay that power down bait better.

We all know the new M3 is capable of doing 0-60 in 3.9 sec's but it would appear it is difficult to actually accomplish this feat for the avg Joe, which says something in itself.

I did see the M3 this past weekend and that full leather is expensive but its something you gotta have...looked really nice...interior looks so much better now...exterior looked really nice also...great lines...the front wheel gap(but not rear) looks like it still has shipping blocks in so that was abit weird...YMB looked pretty much like baby blue...would be ok color for garage queen but not a dd for me anyway.

Looks like the M3/M4 is a little undertired for optimum 0-60. As an old drag racer the trap speed of 117 to 120 is very impressive. Shows that both cars are making very good power. But both are NOT muscle cars in the 1/4 mile sense. They are all around performance cars. Great ones.

The latest test has the C7 doing 0-150 in 20.9 so it and the M4 are in a dead heat in a straight line. The quicker shifting DCT and the S55's flat powerband help here.

The 181mph recorded by C/D is strangely slow. The C7 should do 185-190 in most conditions.

The vette has an e-diff like the M4 and has more rubber. In theory it should have more traction. But unlike the M4, the vette doesn't have a DCT, so its ability to manage wheel slip when starting from a dead stop (at least with a 6mt) is probably limited.

Something to note though: the vette does beat or at least match the M4 in 0-60 and 0-100 times. So with its higher HP and torque, it should be beating the M4, or at least matching it, in 0-150 and 1/4 times. The only reason it doesn't is because you have different magazines/publications testing the cars under different circumstances.

The vette is easily the faster car in a straight line (at least where racing is concerned, not 0-100 time trials) as indicated by the Hockenheim times. When they get a time from the nurburgring, i'll bet the difference between the 2 will be even greater.

Agreed. Didn't know that the 'Vette had an e-diff, makes sense though.

We can all agree that it's an impressive car, that M4.

Nice !!

Would it be possible to add Cayman GT(S) times?

Nordschleife Cayman GTS 7.53 to my best knowledge, only 2 seconds slower to an M4

It would be great to make this more of a community effort! We probably had 10 folks adding results for the E9X thread. It is not at all hard to follow the formatting. Just insert:

[*]Car: Spec result (Magazine)

and use the insert hyperlink button when the magazine name is highlighted.

Cheers!

On this Forum, I see a lot of M-DCT when referring to the auto transmission.

Does that mean Manual-DCT or M(referring to M cars)-DCT?

how about their 5-60 times as that is the "real world" number that will mean the most. 0-60 in pretty meaningless as cars like the Audi S6 post amazing times (3.7) but then put up 4.9 second 5-60 times!

The M3 as tested by Car and Driver was 3.9 0-60 and 4.2 5-60, so at a stop light it should easily take out the S6, but 0-60 times make people think otherwise.

comparing Car and Driver's own numbers

2009 C63
0-60 3.9 seconds
5-60 4.2 seconds

2015 M3/M4
0-60 3.9 seconds
5-60 4.2 seconds

considering that's a 6.2L V8 vs a 3.0L I6, similar size cars, that is amazing.
not to mention the MPG on the C63 was 12/18 (and I usually got around 13-14 mpg real world driving).
