ScanGuage Guages you'd like to see?
I'm currently working with the folks at ScanGuage to data log and develop some custom gauges for our cars. So far I've only asked them to develop the oil tem and trans oil temp gauges. What else would you guys like to see a gauge for besides the standard ambient intake air temp, water temp, boost, volts, instantaneous mpgs, etc.
I was thinking turbo rpms might be cool but not sure what else would be useful to know on/off the track. Whatever suggestions I get from here I will share with the engineers so they can program it for the gauge and make it available to everyone. TIA! |

My buddy has a Scangauge in his M235i. It looks really shitty and just does the basic OBD data. It kept falling off its mount and display was laggy especially in winter. I'd personally never mount that in my M4 interior. Check this out: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1343400.

At any rate, the OP was asking for SUGGESTIONS to give the manufacturer so that it can do more than "just basic OBD data" on our platform. OP check this out http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1017936

Yeah I'm paid off. Come on. You can't tell me that scangauge looks good. Awron is so nice but its 2 grand! You could buy an extra ECU for that! I just thought maybe if enough demand bm3 guys would open the gauges portion on its own so anyone can use it regardless if you unlock nad get tuned or not.

So back on topic.....
In addition to what you have listed: 1. AFR (especially if the stock ECU uses a wide band O2 sensor which is common in OEM turbo applications) 2. Heat Exchanger inlet & outlet coolant temps (to see how well the HX is performing and cooling the intake charge) 3. Intake air charge temp (different than ambient outside air temp) 4. Radiator inlet and outlet temp (radiator inlet is also called Coolant Temp) Basically, any engine or transmission parameter is fair game. Any fluid/oil temp is fair game. And any parameters associated with the high tech electronic differential in this car would be good. Lastly, if you can pull any data from the adaptive suspension system (I don't know what is available though) would be good too. The more data the better, the user can always turn off what he does not want to see or log. As far as layout for the gauges, the sky is the limit, especially with the "phablets" available on the market now that you can suction cup to your windshield to see gauges. Of course, if you really wanted be "baller" if you could figure a way to show this data on the iDrive screen.....damn . Below is a track I vid I made not too long ago with data that I was interested in seeing with my supercharged E46 M3 track car. The F80 has even more data I would be interested in getting access to, and it is already in the car (no aftermarket sensors required). https://youtu.be/9riBaZeEwhA
