that would make sense as the m3 pricing guide for 2018 was probably deliberately withheld until the price increase was made public.

I asked my dealer and they confirmed it in writing. You should do the same.

Should I assume my dealer will know this, or should I press the issue (still waiting to get another production number as my first was one of the erroneously released few).

Will do. But it's just another unnecessary layer of complexity and confusion with this release by BMW.

if the vehicle is price protected, and the msrp stays the same at 64,000. and if my production number is eligible, it should printed on the Monroney sticker right? if that is the case, do we even need to do anything? Dealer cant just charge 1500 more when sticker says 64,000.

You should confirm with your dealer. Personally, I do not like surprises at contract signing.

I've been told that no 2018 M3 will have a base price of 64,000. Pricing sheet for 2018 M3 is effective from July onwards, so MSRP of 65,500 will apply.

64,000 was the base price for 2017 models, so that cannot be applied to 2018 ones.

The issue is whether the price protection from BMWNA will apply to orders already confirmed for the MY2018 M3 as it applies to MY2018 models before July 1st. This price protection does not exclude the MY2018 M3 specifically.

My dealer told me in writing that the M3 is included, but I am expecting BMWNA to officially confirm it sometime this morning.

Yeah, I had the same question as you- but was told that since pricing for 2018 is effective only from July onwards, you cannot "officially" get a PO placed until July- all the pricing/deals that people are getting is based off of pricing effective July 2017. Every current VIR for 2018 M3 shows July pricing (not sure how true this is, but I believe it).

I guess 2018 M3 isn't excluded because there is no effective pricing for 2018 M3 before July 1.

That makes sense to me.

At least this is what my dealer told me. I hope BMWNA gets back to you with 64,000- that would be great news!

That is the reason I kept asking my dealer about this price protection as it does not exclude the MY2018 M3 and production numbers have already been issued -the two things that are covered by the price protection. Even when I asked BMWNA the first time they did know about the price protection for MY2018 models but did not know about the MY2018 M3 inclusion specifically.

Seems too good to be true that BMW would gift us $1500 simply because we ordered before the pricing guide was available...and then base it on last year's price?

That's what they did for the M4 retrospectively, so it is not that far fetched...

Right. The latest info I saw in another thread was that it has to have a VIN number attached to it before July 1. And since No 2018's will be built before July 1, and the Vin Number is attached to the car on the assembly line, no 2018's will make the cut off regardless of when you ordered.

Thanks for your hard work on this, please keep us updated on how it goes. Mine was officailly placed/accepted on 6/12... so if it is based on when the order was made (not what the pricing guide stated at the time of ordering) it'd be great news!

I do not expect good news from BMWNA as this "price protection" is vague with the M3 in particular, but at least it was addressed...

i wouldnt get your hopes up. I doubt there is an MSRP number of 64,000 floating around to "price protect". And the F80 M3 is deliberately not on the bulletin.

Even after BMWNA saying that the M3 is "price protected" it is not. But at least got my ED date of Sept 20th. My sadness will be cured at the Frankfurt Auto Show, Nurburgring, Oktoberfest and Madrid...
