Day at Welt

My delivery is not till 4 pm on Oct 10.

Is there much to do at the Welt? We have the factory tour at 11:45 and i believe thats only an hour. What else is there to do? Should we get there for first thing in the morning or just before the tour?

We were told the 11:45 factory tour is two hours. I would recommend the following itenerary.

8:30: Arrive at Welt and checkin and grab a muffin
9:00-11:00: Tour the BMW Museum across the street
11:00-11:45: Have some lunch in the lounge
11:45-13:45: Factory Tour
13:45-16:00: Hangout and explore the Welt, finish checkin (if not completed yet), have a snack, maybe hit the Museum again if you missed some stuff.
16:00: Delivery #blessed

I think my delivery was at 4 and I got there at 10. There is enough to do to keep you busy and have some time to relax. Museum, tour, the shops and cars at the welt. When I went they also had a motorcycle demo where they were driving up the steps and around the welt, pretty cool.

One thing about 4 pick up is that you will be let out into rush hour traffic. Make sure you know your route to your next destination and don't get too flustered about everyone packed next to your new ride

Yes. We spent the whole day there. The tour is exactly 2 hours - they are very precise!

We arrived at 8 for a 9:10 delivery. We filled out the paperwork, had a nice breakfast and then took delivery (that process took about 1.5 hours, maybe even 2 as we were programing a complex route along the Alpine Road into the Nav). Then to the gift shop to get the engraved key chain and safety vests. Then the tour until 1:45, followed by lunch in the lounge. We wandered about the Welt for a while, looking at the cars and the displays. Finally to the museum, where we spent two hours. I think we finished at 5 PM and were completely exhausted, having just flown in the night before.

It was such a great experience. I can't wait to do it again - and I'll probably still spend a full day at the Welt!! It's kind of like a kid being in a candy store...

Thanks for the detailed response! I get delivery first thing in the morning. My plan is to check in get delivery, check out the museum and then the tour at 11:45... then the real fun begins and the first of many road trips!

This sounds like a great itinerary. I wonder what kind of food they have there.

Oh yes you're right. Maybe we'll hang out for another hour or so before we leave to avoid the traffic. Should be out on the road around 6pm then. Thanks!

It rotates through the day. In the morning, typical German breakfast food - all number of breads, cold cuts, cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, etc. Later in the day lunch foods such as sausages, wraps, grain-based salads, etc. appear. Really, there is something for everyone and it is high-quality. Plus the lounge is a great space to hang out. Of course there is coffee, espresso, etc.; juice and even numerous kinds of beer (no wine however). A few people with early AM deliveries where happily enjoying beer before they collected their car!

I do have a few pictures of the food in my ED journal, link below.

Yup, a few random pics - at least 3 years ago it was like a really really good airport club or hotel club

Also have the Brasserie for lunch. Either way can't go wrong.

Holy crap!

That's either the saddest or funniest thing I've ever heard on the forum!
