Temporarily swap your DCT for my 6MT while I recover from shoulder surgery?
Wish you hadn't clicked the DCT box when ordering your F80? Still reminisce of the old days when you were manly and drove a Manual Transmission? Reminisce no more!
Due to many, many years of weight lifting I have a torn labrum in my right shoulder that requires surgery. I will be in a sling and unable to operate a car the way it is supposed to be operated for several months..... I drive a 2016 F80 with MPE, CF rear diffuser, black partial leather in the greatest color ever invented by God himself....Yas Marina Blue. I am willing to swap cars with anyone who chose DCT and has an F80 of any year. I drive about 1200 miles a month. Should be about 6-8 weeks before I can row my own gears again after surgery, which is probably within the next 4 weeks. I live in Long Island, New York

This is the most awkward request i have ever seen, who would be willing to do that and at what risk? What about insurance and what happens if there is a damage to the car? How can you trust your car to someone else ?

LOL, put your car on Turo and rent an Enterprise for a month. You'll still come up positive.
Come on man, you think he'd be serious about this.. |

Absolutely serious. I know quite a few people who would love to drive 6MT but didn't want to commit to it for the life of the car.

Life is too short to drive the cars Enterprise offers...but something tells me the way this thread is shaping up that will ultimately be the route I go down.

I would have a hard time trusting my manual with anyone. Poor clutch

True about the clutch, but I live in a city that spends 0.00000000001% of the budget for road maintenance so potholes abound. I worry about the my wheels, curb rashes, and all that. The big things you have insurance to cover, it's the small things that I'd worry about.

Buy a beater and sell it when done. Can find something good enough to last 1200 miles and who knows, you may keep it for NY winters.

Why would someone that paid $2900 extra for DCT suddenly have an urge to go along with this?
Now if you're interested in swapping wives for a month or so, that's different. You might get someone willing to agree to that.

...and this is why we have a "minimum of 1 car with AT" rule in my house. Also, in case I need someone to drive one of my cars in a pinch or as a loaner.

Perhaps you are new to the forum but there are threads of "Have any DCT owners switched to 6mt?" and vice versa on what seems like a daily basis.

For a lot of F8x DCT drivers I know, this is their first non-manual....some truly regret it. I regret ever starting this thread and if I could figure out how to delete it I would.
