PFC08 Scraping Noise

Has anyone tried PFC08s on F8x platform yet? I just put them on yesterday for my track day on Friday but they are scraping the rotors even when I'm not braking. I'm assuming it's because I haven't bedded them properly yet but it's almost worrying. I can hear the scrape and in fact can almost slightly feel it on the steering wheel too. It's coming from all four corners. Never had this type of issue woth RS29s so just want to know if this is normal or not.

Here's the video:

Oh they already squeal like crazy. I was so embrassed in the rush hour traffic after work lol. I thought RS29s were loud before bedded but these are on a whole different level. The thing wakes up the whole neighborhood lol.

How many events are on your rotors? I don't hear anything crazy here. Dust shields maybe, but likely due to new pads on used rotors.

Go out in the country or somewhere safe and do 5-8 hard stops, 60 to 5mph or greater if can be done safely. It will get them warm and they will partially bed themselves. Your first session on track will finish the bedding process.

I had about 4-5 events with RS29s and that's all. I was thinking about the dust shields too but I don't think it's them because the noise is coming from all four corners and it immediately stops as soon as I apply the brakes. I think pads are touching the rotors even when the brakes are not applied. I will definitely bed them in. Thank you!

dude, you sure you didn't install one of the pads on the wrong side?

i had this happen last year and had a similar sound. its definitely the same sound as in your video. you likely have the backing plate running against the rotor instead of pad material side against the rotor.

No, I always double check before putting back on my wheels.

Take it down to BMW and show them the video. I had the same issue and there is a service bulletin for the backing plate. They have to drop the rear-end to fix the issue but I have yet to have a pebble stuck between the backing plate since my service.

Nah it was just the brake pads that needed to be bedded. After the first session at the track they were fine.

So what is your track report with the PFCs? I need to order new pads for this season.

Here's my feedback on PFC08s that I shared in a different thread:

In my other track days with RS29s, they faded to a degree that it was plain scary (pedal almost going to the floor). Also, I pushing the car more as well yesterday with PFCs and improved my PB by 1.4sec. I'm gonna say that PFC08 is the clear winner of this comparison. They squeal like crazy tho, nothing like RS29s.
