You can also check out unhaggle.com for the dealer's invoice report. Last edited by Ggeezer; 04-08-2015 at 10:17 AM.. |

PDI seems a little high. Again, try building a car on the bmw.ca configurator and you'll see the freight & pdi charges and expected dealer admin fees. Freight & PDI should be $2,095 and dealer reg. about $579. Although you could probably negotiate the latter, especially if you're not financing through the dealer. I also had to pay the $100 A/C tax and $12 tire tax. |

Sometimes prices are negotiated on a final price basis and then the dealer just plugs in the standard numbers (e.g., standard freight & PDI) working backwards to make the invoice add up to the final negotiated number. One dealer may charge you less PDI but they also might give you less of a discount. So to me, it doesn't matter how the numbers add up, rather it's the bottom line that counts - that is, how much money are you out of pocket out the door. |

If he was quoted under invoice pricing, then he might be getting the better deal overall. But given the fact that he is unsure of what the add on fees even mean, I don't get the impression that he was able to negotiate a deal under invoice. If he was, then good for him! Of course if a trade in is involved, then all bets are off as it becomes impossible to compare. But regardless, there is more to a deal than just the numbers. I deal with my CA because of who he is, how he operates, and how he helps me out after the sales process is done. If Freddy (or anyone else) makes a great connection with whom they are dealing with, then that is worth it's weight in gold. I can't tell you the number of sales guys I've tried talking to and just didn't get it. |

In Alberta, Canada, the only legal extra fees are GST and the tire fee ($5 per tire) if you pay the advertised price (the published price or sticker price). All the added delivery fees, administration fees, air conditioning fees, PDI, registration fees, luxury car tax, carbon tax, etc. ARE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
A dealer can try to tack them on and try to get you to pay them but they have no legal right to do so. Be aware that if you negotiate the advertised price downward, then the dealers ARE allowed to add on all the other fees. But they are still negotiable. This is why some dealers take the stickers off the cars. This goes for new and used cars. I have checked these statements with the Alberta Consumer Protection people. EDIT: Manufacturers' advertised prices are NOT bound by this law. Only dealerships, unless specific dealerships are mentioned in the manufacturer's advertised price.

Just checked what docs I have kicking around and my PDI freight wasn't noted on what I have here at the house. I negotiated a final price and left it at that. I think it was noted around $3k though and I picked the car up off the showroom floor from Brian Jessel.
