Difference in Preset M1 mode vs using Buttons on the go

I really like using the M1 or 2 modes because its 1 push to get settings that I want plus M view for HUD display.

The issue is when i do not use the preset modes and place Engine in Sport+ and DCT in S3, the car responds a lot better and exhaust/burbles are louder and more frequent, DCT shifts harder etc.

Has anyone experienced this?

I did reset M1 / M2 mode but its still not the same as if you set the settings manually each time.

Car is stock and never been tuned.

You mean your m1 mode that's set to sport+ S3 etc is less aggressive than if you put it in those modes yourself ?

That's weird af

Correct - i reset it as well but still not as aggressive as when I don’t use M1 or M2 presets. Very strange.

If that's really the case, only thing it is likely to be is a bug in the version of the DME software your car has. Maybe getting the car software updated at a dealer will resolve it.

Is it possible the m button modes learn your driving habits?

I don't see how this is possible.

This is what I’m thinking possibly.
The car responds sportier when I engage the settings in M1/2 modes but it goes to another level if I put in Sport + independent of the M presets.

I think this happened overtime, not sure if it has to do with firmware update when i took it for service.....

Would be interesting to see data logs of WOT runs in the various settings and see if there is an objective difference.

I mean - it's weird but it wouldn't surprise me.

When I put my R8 into individual mode (only at start up, works fine if I use it after driving for a little bit) I have to physically go into the parameters and change settings to auto and back to dynamic in order for it to work.

Never experienced it and I use both the M1,2 buttons and the individual buttons frequently.

However I have experienced sometimes a surprising amount of natural variation day to day, I'm guessing due to temperature and humidity variation, that sometimes the throttle feels noticeably more responsive or less responsive, exhaust burbles more or less frequent and loud, and sometimes the DCT shift hardness feeling when I move up to setting 3 feels hard until it takes some time to fully adapt.

No I don't think you're making it up. I think you're being hyper analytical about something that's subjective and can't be quantified. I seriously doubt there's a difference.

This is close to what im referring to.
There is definitely some variations on different days due to temp etc. But if i put the car in Sport+ and DCT S3 outside of M modes - it is definitely a noticeable difference in burble loudness and more aggressive character.

I think it may have to do something with DCT setting - maybe in Mmode its not recognizing the S3 setting or its somehow “softer” version due to my driving history 🤔

I will reset M modes again this weekend and maybe create another Driver profile to see if that makes a difference.

There is definitely a difference 😀

I do agree that average person would not notice but we are all OCD here about cars lol

OP, check whether your DSC settings are the same in M button mode and when you manually switch. That could be a reason.

I have been switching using buttons, or preset M modes, etc. There is no difference AT ALL when using preset mode or manually selecting.

OP, try setting your settings with the individual buttons first, then after your car warms up use the M1/2 buttons and if you still think there is a difference I will eat my socks.

I dont think its the buttons its the car. The m3/m4 esp stock can vary from day to day on the butt dyno. Its actually one of my biggest gripes with this car stock. Some days its a monster other days its a smoother less aggressive feeling car. Im sure the power and performance is the same or similar it just can feel different.

I cannot imagine how it would be possible for what OP thinks is happening to really be happening.
