Temporary AC Issue - Anyone Else?

I was driving yesterday and during my drive I had the AC on high but no air coming out. You could hear the blower working behind the right front part of the dashboard, but no air. If I turned the fan off while driving and turned it back on same issue. however, if I came to a stop and turned the ignition off and then on issue went away. I have not had the issue since, but curious if anyone else experienced this and if this resulted in service.

I had the same problem, no fault codes, changed the fan relay but the problem came back. I noticed it starts during longer drives and after the car cools down it runs normally.

This happened once on my 2016. I let the car rest for a day or two and then the problem went away and never came back.

Yes i had that happen to me too, brought car in and they said it is more common as some adapter is too close to the evaporator causing the line to freeze and such make your ac non functioning. Or something like that, search the forum for the thread, your dealer should know about it.

Same happened to me this past weekend. But the blower quit working completely. Had to drive back home (346 miles) in the texas heat. I let the car sit for a few days, turned it on to take it to the mechanic and started working perfectly. Only thing is that a warning light came on saying "increased battery drainage when off" AC and blower have been working fine ever since...

Known issue had this happen on my f82. Dealerships are aware of this. Requires them to move a sensor. Not big deal. Only happens if AC is on super cold and running long duration.

It is known problem not only for F80/82, but it is also Mercedes and Porsche.

The advisors told me to turn the AC to "Auto" mode if I go on a long trip. The car will know how to adjust the temp to not freeze the lines.

I wonder what they would charge being that I no longer have warranty

this has always worked for me.

i just came back from a 5 hour drive on 90+ degree humid day. i initially set the HVAC to "MAX" which puts the fans at full speed and the temp gauge to the coldest at 60 degrees. once the interior temperature was bearable, i set the AC on "Auto" set at 70-75 degrees. the central hot(red)/cold(blue) dial at dead center. the car HVAC takes care of everything and i have never had any issue with AC not blowing or the lines freezing.

the other day I turned on my AC, the same way I normally do and it was just blowing in hot air. I hit the AC button to turn it off, then back on... and the air turned cold.
