To those who have paint matched front lip - your thoughts?
Looking for opinions from folks who have their M Performance Front Lip (or any other brand front lip) painted. Mostly talking about those of you who have the front lip painted to match the body color (as opposed to the regular matte black), but feedback from those of you who painted it gloss black would be helpful too.
I am about to put a deposit down with Auto Talent to get some work done, but just can't decide on what to do. I am getting an M Performance lip (the poly version, not the CF version). I like the look of it, and mainly i am getting it because I would rather scrape the lip than my bumper. But I also really, really like the way the lip looks when it is painted to match the body color (especially when it contrasts with the CF splitters). But does painting the lip just really defeat the main purpose of me buying it (to use the lip as something more or less disposable i can scrape up instead of my painted bumper). So for those of you who painted the front lip --- hows the paint holding up? does it look weird once you've had it for a while and have scraped? thanks! |

Mine is still flat black but if you paint it, I would just recommend you wrap it with a ppf. He front lip I s sooo low to the ground especially if you are lowered. Coming out of driveways requires extra extra care and attention to exit and approach angles

I'm debating carbon lip or going painted with carbon ducts + crt
It's a really good look, but I've only ever seen it done on slammed/aftermarket wheel cars, I'm still trying to find pics online on a stock zcp |

Here is mine....
No regrets and it is the look I wanted. I had it painted and installed by the dealer as part of the delivery (these pics are the day I took delivery). I have only scraped the bottom of it once as I am very careful. But then I knew the bottom would scrape eventually. However the visible portion of the lip is holding up just fine as I have not hit anything "straight on". Next up for me is getting some OEM body painted side skirts to match. My car is on stock suspension BTW...

IND painted my front lip AW to match my car. I daily mine and have done a couple hundred mile trips and found the lip keeps paint on it better than the rest of the car. Pretty surprised by that.

Mine came with painted (over $1500 option from BMW) but I replaced with matte black one.
I had a matte black plastic lip on my 991 C2S and I really liked the fact that its not really noticeable when I scrape it. So I replaced mine with matte black one for my free of stress so I don't have to worry about it. =)

Given the size of the piece, and the amount of prep work required (which is minimal) $200 seems about right for that job IMO.

I own a Auto Body shop my self that is not a bad deal just make sure they are using quality paint ( base coat ) clear coat and proper adhesive ( secondary primer ) and also flex agent for proper stone chip resistant I know a lot of places don't do that and you will probably last 3 months then you will have to paint it again Bc the prep, material, and product was not good ) seen it a bunch of times some times spending the extra 100 will save you a huge head ache

You are pretty much guaranteed to scrape this lip even with a stock suspension so imho go with the one that will be harder to see damage.
The matte black standard one was an easy choice. If it's the "look" you want that's entirely subjective to you and what you like. Odds are you will be going through a few front lips anyway. |

For the most part any scrapes that you may get are going to be on the BOTTOM of the lip so you won't necessarily ever see them unless you go looking. And with that I think that paint matched lips look better

Unpainted here. Debated painting it but I'd already totaled a CF lip on a parking standard so no reason to spend more money on a likely disposable part.

I have a painted lip (white metalic) with M Performance Carbon Fiber splitters and absolutely zero complaints here bro. I don't have the M Performance suspension yet but I can see that even with stock setting, I'm liable to scrape unless I go with a seriously tame setting. (10mm drop front, 5mm drop rear)

hey,
I have had both and honestly I preferred the gloss black over the color matched. I will post pics of both:
