Just wanted to say you guys are funny. I just love car forums. My staple has always been www.6speedonline.com, the difference in demographic is fascinating.

I bet he does, he has NO CHOICE.

M3 is the only car manufactured in the world.

RealStig, thank you for providing us with your impressions of the car. Although a lot of what you said is subjective, and I tend to agree with KennyPowers and others about the M3's mission as a car, I do see what you're saying regarding the car you'd like to have. There is literally no car on the market (at any price) that offers:

- M3 levels of agility and performance
- M5/M6 levels of exclusivity and luxury
- A usable backseat
- Great looks

From what I've read, the Panamera offers all of that except (very arguably) the looks.

At ANY PRICE? Why sure there are! While agility favors the ///M against other cars in its segment, an ///M car is hardly exclusive and surely isn't top grade in terms of luxury. A usable back seat can be found in other marques and of course, looks are completely subjective.

I really like BMW's subtle understated design, in fact, I love it. M6's interior is just simply stunning to me. I'm with you as well, if BMW offered a 100k car that is size of an M3/M4, I would be first one to buy it.

BMW, Audi, Benz sell cars in masses and that is where the money is at. To build an M3 with super luxurious interior and power band like an M5 AND keeping it LIGHT will cost an arm and a leg. You can't call it an M3, maybe M7 for over 130k. Bottom line is not a single person on here is going to buy/not buy the new M because of some strangers views on the internet (I hope not). The people that are going to buy this car have already made up their mind, people that are on the fence are going to wait a year or so. New GTR black edition starts at 115k, interior... What interior, it's freaking horrible I know cause I drive one and the exterior is so so at best. I will be hard pressed to find a car like the M3/4 with a very attractive interior/ exterior with a performance of a track car at 70k! By the way, M3/4 is suppose to be a sports car not a Lexus with super luxerious interior cause it will lose its sporty soul.

LMAO, quote of the month. However keep in the mind the most vocal around here don't necessarily reflect the majority (at least I keep telling myself that.)

- I don't see you naming any cars that meet those four criteria I laid out.
- I never said an ///M car was top grade in terms of luxury. Luxury and especially exclusivity are by definition relative. An ///M car may not seem exclusive to you, but to the legions of camry and civic drivers, it is.
- Looks are not completely subjective. For example, most people agree the Aztec looks like s***. I'm getting off topic though...

Yeah, I agree with everything you've said pretty much. I certainly don't want a super luxurious M3, and I couldn't afford what it would cost. I was just trying to say that I understand intellectually what the OP is saying.

When I was broke and in college, I always viewed M cars as very exclusive. You don't see them all over the place either. Not like Honda's and Toyota's.

List the cars? Why? That's easy enough to find. You could easily find that.....

....Lexus LF-A Nurburgring Package, Lexus LFA, Mercedes CLK Black Series, Mercedes C63 AMG, etc. Those are just a few of the cars that have either spanked the M3's time or came pretty close to it.

Maybe not where you live, but out here they are all over the place. I'll concede that exclusivity is probably relative to where you live.

Ok come on, you see as many M cars as Accords and Camrys? Atlanta is no stranger to high end cars but come on.

I absolutely hate the m4 in the fact it looks like the 3 and 5 series GT on the rear end how the roofline blends with the trunk rather than there being a clear demarcation of like the e92 or any car. The 4 series to me looks terrible. I like the new 3 series better than the e90 sedan. Overall I will not be pining for this one like I was the last one. I enjoy my individual audio DIRAC system immensely, enjoy the 8600 rpm v8 immensely and much prefer the look of the e92 m3 to either of them. Its a win for me as when I start pining for a car I want nothing to do with the old one and typically I would be hating my current car when I saw this come out but first time ever this has not happened to me.

Although I'm pretty sure you can find a useable back seat in a marquee, I'm not quite sure what that has got to do with the M3/4???

My point wasn't to draw a direct/1-for-1 comparison. It was intended to illustrate that ///M's - in the luxo-sport car category - are found in plentiful amounts here. There's a reason that people in California call BMW's in general the "German Civic".

....and Atlanta is no So.Cal! Our car culture here is well beyond that of Atlanta, GA.

Pretty sure the S65 is redlined at 8400rpm... (S55 is redlined at 7600rpm, or some 800rpm lower than the S65)

Well, you can make it go higher by downshifting at high rpm!

I think that you will also notice there is a difference in demographic between the M5/6 and M3/4 parts of these boards as well

Possibly a more similar demographic over at the M5/6 parts

As that also applies to the MT S55 Version, let's call the S55 a 9000rpm engine from now on
