My ordered m3 16 ZCP came in on the same day as my birthday last year when i turn 40. I should have join the club earlier when i was 32 when I got a E90 335 that was pretty loaded. still kicking myself for not opting for a stripper M3. think the price dif was around 7-9K.

I'm turning 30 in January and wanted to buy myself a birthday present - in no way is this a midlife crisis deal. I just really love the bodystyle of the current M3s and have always wanted to own/drive one. I work hard for my money and am not a trust fund baby.

Looking to gather some insight across the forum on the age range everyone purchased their first M3. Was it too early/late? If you bought one early on in life, if you had the chance to do it again, would you have waited? Thanks in advance you beautiful people.
According to several ex-wives I have been in a mid-life crisis since the age of 25. I find it funny that so many wives feel the need to insist what car their husband should drive. Wanting an M Car for me is simple, I just want an M Car because I find them aesthetically pleasing and a hoot to drive, so I just got my second M at age 58. My first was at age 51, the E92 M3. I was 18 years old when I saw a BMW in the flesh for the very first time, it was the venerable 3.0 CSL. The minute I saw it, I knew I wanted a BMW, but then I waited another 20 years before I bought my first one - a 325iC. I regret waiting that long, I love BMW's, and I appreciate the level of engineering dedicated to their cars, the M Cars are definitely a step up, IMHO. My M4 is my 8th BMW. Essentially, today, I am still that 18 year old, I've learned to embrace it. That's not to say I am immature, I earn a good living, work hard, and I've raised 4 children on my own with no co-parent present. Life is simply too short to over analyze your motives - if you like the car then go and buy it, there's nothing wrong with your reasoning. My sense is that you are questioning your motives because you might be worried what others think of your choices. Based on your OP, you are turning 30, if I could give you any advice it's not to make decisions based upon what others think, your gut will be right about 95% of the time over the course of your life. Buy the car, drive it like you stole it, and, I do to need to mention at this point that the strange crinkly feeling you get in your face at 7 600 RPM s is called a permagrin...................

So, I think that the real question here should be: "At what biological age did you buy your first BMW, and how old did it make you feel after your first drive?"

I was 24 when I got my 2013 M3 Competition Package E92. Man I miss that car! Jet Black on Fox Red Leather. Love the music it produced in 3rd and 4th gear at 3,500 rpms to 4,500 rpms. My current F82 is quicker though but doesn't sound as good as the E92. There was just something about having a naturally aspirated motor. Eventually I will buy another in the E90 platform down the road.

98? M3 = 22yrs
03? M3 = 27yrs
09? M3 = 33yrs
15? M4 = 38yrs
16? M4 = 40yrs

The 16? is my 27th car.

I had a relatively successful career with one company for 15 years prior to my current and less lucrative (way more fulfilling now) 2nd career.

Finished school on scholarship, zero help from parents. They were not in a position to help with anything.

Wouldn?t change a thing.

35 when I bought a '99 M3 in black. Sold it as I had bought it as a 3rd car (325i was the daily). Sold it and the 325i and waited 11 years until my next M3 (2018 comp package) that I bought about 2 weeks ago. Great decision.

23 when I took out a loan for a 2015 M4 shortly after getting hired into my first real job. After about 5 months I realized what a terrible financial decision I had made and got out of it and into a 2008 M3. My bank account was much happier and that allowed me to save up for a down payment on a house 6 months later.
