Bought my E46 M3 slightly used at 21 in 2007. Just bought a new F80 M3 at 31.

At 25 I leased an E92 M3 on a £500 per month deal, business was just starting to become profitable so it really wasn't a good time to become billy big balls - actually feel like a plonker now when I look back at me driving around in a £60k car when I really wasn't in that league.

I never got the car as a status symbol though, just got it as it was the fastest/coolest car I could get within my budget.

28 now and I have bought an M4 Comp Convertible, ex-demo, about 1200 miles on it. Feels COMPLETELY different, and much more satisfying this time.

Be true to yourself!

Why do I feel we need to add Year as well. 21 buying an E46 in 2003 is different than being 21 in 2011 and buying a E46. Just think it adds clarification.

Based on this thread, it seems like the vast majority of the first time new M purchases are made when you're younger than 30.

Possible explanations:
1. lots of investment bankers (thanks for 2008 btw), pharmacists, and consultants posting for some random reason
2. rich parents buying cars for their offspring
3. lots of people over 30 just aren't posting is this thread for some reason
4. lots of dumb purchases made with barely qualifying credit

I could post my age, but I won't, because this thread is weird, but I enjoy reading it, and making judgments of people, it is a guilty pleasure, I enjoy this thread.

Seeing these <22 YO that had an AMG/M and other vehicles >65K makes me question my career choice, I feel like I had been duped and went down the wrong career path.

I also think that if you were born or raised in a family that is netting >250k annually you played life with cheat codes.

I'm turning 30 in January and wanted to buy myself a birthday present - in no way is this a midlife crisis deal. I just really love the bodystyle of the current M3s and have always wanted to own/drive one. I work hard for my money and am not a trust fund baby.

Looking to gather some insight across the forum on the age range everyone purchased their first M3. Was it too early/late? If you bought one early on in life, if you had the chance to do it again, would you have waited? Thanks in advance you beautiful people.
First one at 34 yrs, got addicted and have bought 6 since. Still have the first one, a unicorn so to speak. Very low mi e46 m3 (because I own a bunch of cars) with a manual trans.

I totally agree. I only know a handful of "1st gen" successful people. To be fair, I also know a lot of "failures" who were raised upper-middle class families lol.
