Other markets got less cars and their prices are low too.

Look at Germany’s GTS market for example. Literally 10% of Germany's entire allocations are for sale on German eBay. 8 of 80 allocations.

Two of which are listed for just over 90k EUR and not selling. That is a 36% depreciation hit(142,600 EUR msrp). Both cars only have about 750 miles on them. UK market is similar with only 30 allocations.

Under $100k for an M4 GTS with <700 miles!
I figured someone would list under $100k soon. Numerous listings have been close, surely some of those could have been had for under $100k. Don’t see lower than $90k happening anytime soon though. W204 C63 Black Series has been a strong $90k car for some time, with similar allocations.

hmm... maybe I am not following your thinking. I don't think supplying 100 more cars to BMW's 2nd largest market is going to drastically change the market of the vehicle.

If supplying 100 more truly did have such a big impact on the market, then that just shows BMW (and the dealers) that there weren't 100 more people lined up to throw down $134k on the GTS.

Also, what makes you think that once all the new GTSs are bought (I assume you were talking about new GTSs) the market will magically increase? Based off of casually track prices in the US for a couple months, GTS with <1000 miles (practically new) aren't selling for $100k

If the next M4 gets 8speed auto like the M5 and the GTS follows suit, then you might have some increasing value. If next M4 GTS gets a manual, then forget about it. Values will drop hard.

Wait for it... end of December, dealers trying to make new or used quotas for end of month and year. Car has been sitting for 1-2 years, racking up insurance. Dead of winter. If you have a nice trade-in and / or buy all the add-on packages, you might get something around $90k. It's a 2016 model year and 2019s will be coming out next year along with the new CS.Can only speak to US market, not sure what Hans and Pierre are up to

Myself, I am waiting. If it goes near $80k for a car with <2k miles, I am in. That's why I like to talk about pricing here.

Actually the C63 AMG Black Series only had 70~ units come to the U.S. vs the M4 GTS's 300-400 units.

The CLK63 AMG Black Series had 367 imported which is more in line with the GTS.

True, but I was more referring to worldwide production. Benz ended up making 800 units.

You must've never looked at a supply/demand curve in your life?

Supplying ANYTHING in abundance is going to drive down prices? 100 more cars is essentially flooding the market of a limited production car?

You missed my point. I understand a little downward pressure on the GTSs price would make sense given the extra 100 cars, but given the fact that the US is such a large market, adding 100 more cars seemed to have totally distorted the prices, which were trading at $20k, $30k, $40k+ over, and now $20k, $30k under MSRP.

My assumption is that the reasons we are seeing such low prices on new and slightly used GTSs are:

1) The fanfare for the GTS died quickly after numerous negative reviews circulated and the natural hype went away

2) Competition from AMG, Porsche, and BMW itself (i.e. CS) gained momentum to sway potential buyers

3) Colder months and BMW's quotas

1, 2, and 3 all affect DEMAND.

To summarize, I believe adding 100 cars to the market here (supply) definitely didn't help prices stay afloat. But, the real reasons we are seeing them dip below $100k is to my examples above (demand). BMW must have not done their homework on real demand for their product in this region.

I have a degree in Economics if you care to know more.

BMW produces too many cars in the M segmentation, and they will not hold value like M did many years ago. My M4 will possibly be my last M car, and I personally think BMW has over produced the M brand at the expense of expansion. You spend hard earned dollars on a M car then they come out with another car with more power, better exhaust, better handling? If you buy a BMW now just consider it sunk cost and enjoy the car. Never buy a car expecting some good return I hate to say it. I’ve been lucky with my GT3’s selling them for what I purchased. I will look at the M5 and wait to see what they do, but not sure about that one. Good luck guys.

People should do their homework before they buy such a car. One of the best mixed road/track car IMO, even at MSRP.
It is good to know that another real car enthusiast will give it a good home this time. Hopefully on the track.
I am very interested in one at the right number. I usually track a couple times a year, also race, time permitting. This is obviously a very special car. I for one could spend lots of time just admiring the underneath. For me being that i like to buy and sell often, I need to get one and be on the right side. Honestly, I was waiting for BMW to announce the upcoming M2 CS/ Comp or whatever there calling it. The plan was to do euro delivery, etc. but the GTS has me thinking differently. Anyone care to take a stab at what happens after the first of the new year??

It's performance is nice but at the end of the day it's an M4 with hideous looking wheels and an ugly ass park bench wing on the back of it. Would never pay anywhere near the asking price for these cars (even at $100K). Just isn't special enough to anyone other than a BMW M guy.

a local dealer in my area has a matte black one or frozen gray forget the proper name of the color but when i went over to look at it they told me off the bat $25k off sticker for the car. i was shocked. If i was in the market for a new f80 that starts to become very attainable as a fully loaded f80 with carbon ceramics is only about $10-15k cheaper than that gts

Does anyone know if the roll cage is bolted or welded in? If I could get rear seats in this car it would be definitely worth it at the falling prices...

the mounts are welded but the cage is bolted, should be able to reverse it, I've seen someone to do!

Honestly, the roll cage in this car is part of its special appeal to me. Not many street cars you can get straight from the factory with a cage in the US (in fact are there any, 997 GT3 RS maybe). Never mind one as beautifully painted as this one. Without the cage, why not just spec out an M4 CP or CS?

That one at $97k will be interesting to follow, since it is a private sale. See how long it sits there at that price.
