I have that option but don't think that I'll be getting any benefit, unless i'm missing something. I plan on just plugging the phone via the wires. I could be wrong but I feel that wired is better than wireless.
The main thing is you get emails and text messages via idrive.
Which actually doesn't work with any modern smartphone (Android, iPhone) anyway... Completely useless.

How do you code it? Is there any DIY? The only valuable thing is ability to pair 2 phones if you drive with a spouse I guess.

I noticed recently that now my iphone5s paired with 2011 1m, my email and text messages now show up in the idrive. I haven't updated the car or phone but in one of the menus it gave me a choice of which messages to display. I think I only had the service messages displaying.

Maybe it's been like that since new but now it works. And this is all through BT

Just what I thought. I should have ordered the extra parking cameras. Then I would a least had an option that I would see everyday.

Yes, search for "F30 coding DIY" to get everything you need to get started.

Good, now go and see if you can get that setting for the auto high beam assist setting,
so that it comes on automatically without pressing the stalk button

I already have that

FEM_BODY-->FLA_AUTO_AKTIV-->set to: automatisch
FEM_BODY-->FLA_VERBAUT-->set to: aktiv
HU_NBT-->HIGH_BEAM_ASSISTANT-->set to: aktiv
KAFAS2-->FLA_ON_OFF-->set to: aktiv – werte=01

now go code it to your car!

I was told by the dealer that you need 6NS to get future upgrades including Carplay. He said Carplay will just require a software upgrade once it comes.

Thanks guys for the info here - I was looking for this for quite a while and trust not even BMW know exactly what's status:

I conclude: With the basic 6NH you get audio streaming and even album art and playlist control.
Great news and I will be saving the xtra 6NS, which in germany you would even need to go for the connected drive package (+700 Eur).

I will use them for some nice dinners rather .

thx, Stefan

Quick question. Can someone please tell me that without the enhanced Bluetooth we can still control the spotify playlist on the I drive. Like the video shown. http://youtu.be/RErPaEoVNTI

Seems like the dock is the only benefit from this option.
But I would really like to pair an extra phone for music and can run through the playlist of all my multimedia apps on my idrive my coding.

I am not realy sure if playlist control is possible via the I drive without the enhanced bluetooth.
According to this: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...4&d=1396737977 you would only be able via USB, if you ant to do this via BT, you would need the enhanced one (6NS).

Probably someone having the 6 NH (standard bluetooth) could confirm?

First, Spotify is not officially supported in the iDrive. So whatever integration problems you will have with Spotify and the iDrive will be the result of that lack of OEM support.

Second, Library Browsing (Playlist, Genre, Artist) is supported by 6NH, which it is standard feature in the M3/M4.

The list of additional features included with the optional 6NS is posted in this thread.

So I am still a bit confused guys... somewhat contradicting info in here.

What does the $500 Enhanced BT / USB option get you?

I am interested in BT audio and the text message reading via idrive.

Can those be coded in if one chooses to not get the option?

BT audio will come standard no matter what, and you'll be able to stream from your phone or other device should you choose.

The "enhanced" option will get you a second microphone in the car, the ability to have two phones "actively paired" at the same time (you can pair up to four I think, but only one can be "active" at a given time under std - correct me if I understand this wrong anyone), and will enable the office features like messaging by default. I think there is also a plastic dock that you get or something.

The speech to text inputs and messaging features are things that could be coded in. Those are next on my list to do, hopefully today, and can post something more if you like later to confirm. I have a feeling others have already done it and would confirm more quickly though.

Also, you need to buy the appropriate snap in adapter for your phone above spending $550 for the 6NS pacakge. In Canada it's just over $300 for the adapter.

Curious to know if the coding gave you the 2nd phone connection.
Also does anyone know if the car is prewired for the 2nd microphone so it can just be plugged in?

So when I read the technical bulletin on this post, the 6NS option has something called iSpeech. It sounds like you can use this option to speak out the name of a track or artist that is stored in your iPod. I can't confirm if this is possible as I don't have the car yet. However, I will say this. I had a Ford with Sync and it was great to just speak the song name and your song comes up. I found it very annoying when I switched to a much more expensive Range Rover Sport and had to search through several menus and songs before I found what I wanted. If iSpeech is only available on 6NS and it operates just like Sync, then it is well worth the $500 in my opinion. Can someone confirm this feature?
