AWE ColdFront Heat Exchanger

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:

Item Interest
I have an AWE ColdFront Heat Exchanger that's been on the car for 12k miles. It does a fantastic job but I recently installed the entire CSF cooling package and removed the AWE so it's time to sell it.

Product Features:
-125% increase in fluid volume
-24.4% increase in frontal surface area
-Max Intake Air Temperature drop of 15°F

These things are $920 new, so this is more than half off.

Will ship at buyers expense. Price is obo.

I tracked the car once since I bought it, but the AWE was installed. It was upper 80s and humid. The car had pure turbos, maxpsi intakes, fbo, etc and this cooler. I never felt the car pull power in the 5 sessions throughout the day.

I don't have any data to support my conclusion but yes to me this cooler makes a tangible difference by not only increasing the heat capacity of the system with increased fluid capacity but also greater surface area means more total cooling from the heat exchanger. All of that leads to decreased IATs for longer periods of time, which means more power.

I wouldn't have uninstalled this if I didn't have the CSF package.

Shouldn't take more than 2 hours with a lift. I can recommend a BMW certified mechanic here locally.

can you do this and the CSF top mount cooler or do you just suggest getting the whole setup like you?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with running them together. After all they're both simply radiators right? Water flows in and out and air passes through.

The csf units have a little more capacity and surface area but the gap between oem and AWE is huge.
