I never have removed them and have never lost a cap during a track day (I even have center caps in my EC-7 track wheels ).

Yes, but not because of heat. I've lost (1) OEM cap and (2) replica caps between trackdays/daily driving. I'm assuming they fall out after hitting the rubble strips/curbs. So I just run without them in now.

I don't use them on track because they could get lost or dropped on the course.

I remove the two front ones. I've had them melt/warp before from the heat

I personally remove them for track days. I know it's unlikely, but the last thing I would want is for one to come off on track and to damage someone else's car somehow. Just seems like the courteous thing to do since they're easy to remove.

I can't speak for the new apex caps but I was able to get the older ones to distort from the heat. Two were missing and the two left were hanging on for dear life and all diatorted.

But yeah you don't want them falling out and becoming debris.

My wife and I never run center caps on our track wheels. In less than two years I've lost two caps off the M4 just driving on the street. I wouldn't want anyone to drive over one of my caps or get it thrown at their window or inside their car and I sure wouldn't want to pick up my own cap on a later lap.

Center caps are purely cosmetic and serve no other purpose, so they don't make any sense for track wheels.

I never had wheel caps at the track, because I ran CCW's .

Regardless, most tech race forms will require removal of the caps...one less potential foreign object flying around on the track.

NASA requires wheel caps to be removed for that very reason
