A couple of questons AW vs SS for people who have seen them
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Does SS look blue-ish, does it look at all like glacier? I like glacier BTW. AW, does it show the lines of the car, really hard to tell in pics. can you see the bulge and the fenders? Finally, I am ordering black wheels, but not a CF roof because of the rack mounting issue (and delay), so which one w/o CF roof. Will do performance parts in black and will have tinted windows, so it will be somewhat blacked out with a bike rack on top I would love to look at the cars, but I have not been able to see these colors. TIA! |

IMO SS can look blue-ish... it really depends on the lighting (but looks good). I attached a couple shots from the recent BMW event that included a SS M3.
AW does show the lines of the car (on the M3), but maybe not as well as the metallic colors.... Both colors look great to me

SS definitely looks blue in person in sunlight. It's less obvious (to me anyway) inside or in dimmer light.
AW does show the lines of the car well, and much more so than darker colors in dimmer light. |

Both colours look great, I went AW but SS was a close second to me, sometimes I wish I'd gone for it but if I had I'd wish I'd got AW. What interior colour do you like best as this could help you decide - I liked SO which goes well with both colours so was not a help to me but if you like SS interior it goes better with SS exterior than AW IMO.

SS has a lot of blue in sunlight. I love it. My wife's F30 is glacier and they are similar (I like that color a lot too) at night/low light.
Unfortunately pictures of SS do not accurately represent what it looks like IRL.

I think this pic does a decent job of showing the blue hue

Enjoy the AW! I've seen all the colors in person. IMO you can't go wrong with any of them.

SS is definitely blue-ish. AW, if you are thinking in that direction MW is head&shoulders more interesting, but it will add $550. If MW or AW, black wheels and CF roof are a must. Buy a trailer for those damn bikes, the wht/blk thing is that cool!

I've seen Alpine White and though it's depressingly boring, doesn't show M4's aggressive lines at all, it's flat, dull and plasticky-looking. I was very surprised, because Alpine White looks brutal on, for example, M6. Or even previous gen M3 E92. If you want to go incognito style, pick Alpine White.
Sorry for offending anyone -- just my opinion. Colors are subjective. Silverstone on the other hand, I think, was great. Glacier blueish, thick metal finish appearance. I should note however that the car drives so well that the color is probably the least relevant when you're inside. |
