go for it! you will love the new interior, technology, and modern look. I recommend you get the MY18 with the LCI looks personally but that is subjective if you like the new lights like I do. They're all great anyway.

If you can swing it, do what I did. Keep the e46 as well. Otherwise, they are very diff cars. You have to drive the new car to see if it's really what you want compared to the e46

Can't go wrong with the F80 and you will love the power. But if your E46 is MT, definitely keep it. Low mileage MT E46s are getting very rare...

It's SMG but in great condition. Always wanted one but feels like it is missing something. I almost preferred my 335i over it. Plus having a warranty would be nice for a little while

I was just about to PM you to ask about the gearbox. If it was 6MT and no sunroof I would have had cash in hand
At this point you probably should just keep it. It seems like SMG E46 get lowballed a lot more more the 6MT versions, but I imagine that will change in the future when the overall condition of the car will matter now |

Go drive one and report back
The S54 is just a sweetheart of an engine. It revs till forever and a half and it's smoother than a baby's ass The S55 is a torque monster and feels more synthetic in comparison to the S54. The F8x chassis will also feel significantly larger than the E46, though that may not necessarily be a bad thing Look up your local Carmax they almost always have a few F8x cars and they offer test drives no questions asked |

I've had both. I do love the look and feel of an E46 M, but I did not like all the things that could go wrong with them. Outside of isolated crank hub issues, the F8x is much more reliable.
Obviously performance is simply in another league. If you can swing both do it, but I'd be more inclined to want F8x |

Keep both. I bought an F80 first and then got an e46 right after. Two very different cars for different purposes, that will make you smile for different reasons.

I drove a friend's e46 SMG back to back with my F83.
The e46 is more refined - the F8x is raw and you feel every bump and there's a lot of road noise. If I had to choose, it's F8x all the way; it feels like an e46 on steroids. More power, better brakes, better tech, better seats, more adjustable. |

I'm pretty set on 6MT for any E46 M3 I get, and I doubt you'll want to go low enough for me to do the 6MT swap |
