My 2012 M3 ZCP (E92) lacked in power.
2018 M4 ZCP (F82) is a beast and power is available as low as 1500 rpm.
And only option I would love to have: "P" button. It will make parking much easier

Ya, I leave mine in reverse and turn off ignition.

What I've noticed in my 47 miles are 2 things.

1) the sound of turbines winding down as I'm coming to a stop. Must be the turbos?

2) the blind spot detection is terrible. The light in the mirror housing is too dim and it's not actually in the mirror. And you have to be going over 30mph. For the alert to be lit, the car must be right by you. My DD alerts me when a car is diagonally behind me. I don't know how BMW came up with this system. It needs a lot of improvements.

Which transmission do you have. My 6MT has a very faint turbine sound at cruising speeds and light throttle. I know there was a thread about a pulley needing replacement. Also 1-2 shifts sound intermittently clunky when disengaging the clutch. Is this normal?

I have 6MT. I don't think it's the tranny. Does not sound like gear whine. I drove a '16/'17 ZCP DCT and there was no sound as I have. So I guess it could be the MT, but I have never heard this sound from a MT before. I will put in neutral before I come to a stop next time I drive it this weekend and report back. I like the sound, it's awesome. I should take a video.

2018 F80 6MT ZCP ZEC approaching 700 miles. US spec as I am military overseas, in case you were wondering about my location. So far I love the car, but some of the observations/quirks for me:

- I’m at about 15mpg. Not as good as I was expecting but I really don’t care either. Driving local for the most part so I guess it’s not that bad.
- Bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone 7 is all over the place. I primarily use Spotify and it’s hit or miss with getting the music info on the screen. Or, sometimes the audio plays but I can’t control anything with the car and only through the phone. Other times there’s a 5-10 sec delay when I use the steering wheel buttons to go to the next song. Very rarely it won’t connect at all. Not sure if it’s the phone or the car.
- Hate that I can’t sync dual zone climate control. Also, not a fan that the volume knob and temp knob are so close to each other.
- Never thought I’d say this but I’m a fan of the heated steering wheel
- I frequently chuckle at seeing “EW” whenever I get out of the car. As in, “M3” upside down on the door sill plate.
- Really can’t understand why they didn’t make better use of the digital display area below the gauges. Why even bother having the “M” logo under the speedo?worthless. Also lighted M logo on the ZCP seats are worthless. Just another thing that will randomly stop working someday.
- I have extended leather, so I like the additional faux stitching on the dash for 2018. Not sure why that one panel by the driver’s side footwell is leather but not the other side. Weird.
- Speaking of leather, is everyone else’s steering wheel super loud when you move your hands/fingers along it??? The swishing sound?
- Trunk randomly opening. Pretty comical.

There’s definitely other stuff I could bring up but all in all everything is very minor, even the stuff I listed.

Yea I agree with the M3 logo in the dash. A total waste of space. Coulda put almost as useless Efficient Dynamics display there. Loud steering wheel- maybe you just have dry hands. Trunk opening randomly, maybe there's some debris underneath triggering the comfort access sensor.

I think I prefer the new 2018 wiper and blinker stalks over the older design.

One major criticism over the interior: the door panels with black leather are very bland and gloomy. Just all black. The carbon fiber door handle trims should have been standard and the little black horizontal plastic strip could at least match the black chrome strip underneath the carbon fiber dash trim

i read about this while waiting for my F80 to be delivered. Many people on the forums have had it happen to them.

one thread for example:
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1144477

it is indeed funny. but less so for the people who've had it pop open while driving or washing their car (!!). I too thought it maybe had to do with the key fob being accidentally pressed in pockets, but after i took delivery of my F80 one day i was washing the car (thankfully a rinseless wash) and my trunk popped open randomly. No keys in my pocket.

Ever since then i always lock my trunk using the switch in the glove box. Makes running errands really annoying when i have to get in/out of my trunk but not worth the risk of it flying open while driving.

(I have an aftermarket diffuser)

I have DCT and have had the faint turbine/propeller noise on light throttle since mile 1. I think/hope it's normal.

What is different about the operation of the stalks?

Blinker stalk stays down like a regular car. Auto wipers is now integrated into the stalk instead of being a separate button

I'm still getting used to these changes since I liked the old design.

I liked the old design, too, and when I heard it was changing I was a little bummed. Of course, the image in my head was of the '93 Chevy I had where it felt like you were about to break the plastic on the stalk every time you used it. I have found the change has not bothered me as it still feels well built.
