Wow. This is the best sounding exhaust I've heard yet for the S55. No raspy, tinny, harsh sound on WOT. Definitely interested

Given that the blackheart line seems to be around ~$1300 for a mustang catback this could be very very attractive.

Note that there's much more competition in the Mustang realm and thus performance parts are considerably cheaper. If this system is anywhere near $1300 I'm going to install 2 of them.

I would suspect $3,500 w/CF tips.

For an axleback? I would truly hope not.

Shock the M-Tax market with a well priced system and they won't be able to keep them in stock.

+1. Love it.

But I’d only be interested in the axle back.

The stupidly overpriced MPE is $5k+ w/CF tips.

Woot Woot! More pics and video! I'm including some of the engineer's comments. Also I now wish I'd cleaned underneath the car. :P

From the engineer:
"Here is the Mid Pipe. I did start the car on the lift ( I couldn’t stand it anymore ). It makes the stock muffler sound more like the axel back, much deeper and less rasp than the factory mid.

This is a progressive X-pipe design with resonators, I decided to use the cab forward Progressive X to merge the two banks together as soon as possible to get rid of the crap twin 3 cylinder sound track the factory exhaust makes. The X-pipe is not symmetrical and has a much more aggressive convergent angle to the choke point than the divergent angle exiting to the exhaust, this design keeps the exhaust gas velocity very high through the venture and should help the turbos spool faster as well as provide a large cross-sectional area for the exhaust to merge and provide some spill over from bank to bank, improving overall exhaust note. The resonators lower the overall interior sound pressure profile for less resonance (drone) and deepens the exhaust note at low to midrange engine RPM. I may add a conventional H-pipe after the resonators to add some depth to the exhaust note but I will drive it first to see if it needs it, I don’t want it to get too quiet."

"Here is the sound clip with the Mid Pipe and the stock muffler. It is a an un edited version so there are no titles. The order is as the video runs - valves closed startup and drive off, valves closed drive by, valves open start up and drive off and valves open drive by. The resolution on the valves open is not great, The mic had to be turned down so far to keep it from distorting that it sounds quieter on the drive off than the closed valve. I can assure you that its way louder open than closed. The important thing is that you can get a very good impression of the exhaust note, Its much deeper and cleaner than the stock Mid pipe with a nice rip at full throttle. The only thing I would say that’s a negative is that its almost too quiet in the car ,I think we will try with no resonators and see what that sounds like but I think this mid pipe with the Axel back will be a killer combo."

Your input is welcome!

Would the tips be adjustable? The exhaust looks absolutely perfect but the tips look to stick out a bit from that angle? I prefer them flush with the diffuser when looking strait down if possible.

Sounds absolutely awesome! If they can bring an affordable exhaust to the M market that sounds like that they will rule these forums.

That midpipe look's boss
I will def jump at it if , subject to good pricing and No MTax.

I think the only thing that I am not a big fan of is that the Exhaust does not seem to use both tailpipes as exits.

It does seem to have a valve's looking at the pics in first post
when valves are closed it will use the outer 2 tailpipes and when valves are opened the inner 2.
If your S55 is smoking bad it will look odd

again not a train smash but ye just something I picked up looking at the pics
will it make a difference doubt it. the stock Axle back is efficient and when valves are open it almost a straight pipe exhaust, I honestly doubt there is any power to be made with axle back, the gain from all the performance exhausts come from the mid pipe cat removal, but yet we cant factor out the weight saving of the titanium after market exhausts (akra, Mperformace etc)

I am def in for a midpipe, look forward to the final retail piece.

looking at the pics ye it should be adjustable, and I am with you the slanted pipes would look way better flush with diffuser or a bit further in.

When can we expect a price? I think the discussion of whether it sounds amazing can be put to bed. Definitely the best I have heard and I have been shopping exhausts for 8 months now. I just hope it doesn't break the bank.

Here are some answers to questions asked.

- Tips are adjustable and will go flush with valance
- Exhaust exits one tip when closed, both when open.

I'm told pricing will be released "very soon"!

We have pricing! From the horse's mouth:

"I have permission to release Axel Back Pricing. No release date speculation at this point, a lot of tooling necessary for this exhaust that will take some time to nail down before we can share that.
My apologies for the lack of release information at this point, we want to be as accurate as possible on the release dates.

P/N: BH8301 - Axel Back exhaust with Valves and Carbon Fiber Tips (uses the OEM valve actuator) $2195.95
P/N: BH8302 - Axel Back exhaust with Valves and Polished Stainless Tips (uses the OEM valve actuator) $1995.95
- Mid pipe pricing will follow shortly"

Also, more video here. They say the video just doesn't do it justice! They are starting the down pipes tomorrow. Also doing some dyno today I think, I'll post numbers if I get them.

That's some competitive pricing for a nice piece of exhaust! This is final pricing and not any special intro pricing?
