Means that the difference is 8 seconds. Not 0.08 tenths of a second (which is a REALLY small difference...). I guess you meant 8/10ths and not 0.08/10ths |

Off topic for a sec, but What year cayman s? The new 981? I was definetely considering it for my Next car (gorgeous) but like you said the new M3/4 are just soooo damn good. Plus the everyday practicality and trackabily. Cayman S freaks me out, afraid after a while lack of room and back seats would drve me insane.

It is a fact for instance that the SportAuto numbers for the E92 M3 on the Nurburgring were achieved using Cup tires. We still don't know if the speed limiter of 155mph was used on the F10 M5 for the Nurburgring test. Also, SportAuto says that they used Carbon Brakes for their tests with the M4. Let's get SportAuto to test the F10 M5 with the Competition Package and Carbon Brakes on both tracks then. I'm not saying the F10 M5 will be fast than the M4, because it's still 900lbs heavier, but let's at least get a test where the M5 has all available factory options on it to let it achieve what it really can do. The Unsprung Weight advantage of Carbon Brakes alone will make a big difference. One more thing. Let's get a SportAuto test on the new Alpha Romeo 4C on both of these tracks too and compare them to the M4. The new 4C comes in at a featherweight ~2,400lbs and 240hp and 250tq. An all Carbon Fiber chassis that weighs 1,000lbs less than an M4 and will be $10,000 cheaper. Would be interesting to see the results. Also a test of the new Cayman GTS would be nice too. .

Yep that's what I said...a Ferrari from a decade ago is apples to oranges to current cars.

http://m.sportauto.de/supertest/bmw-...95.html?show=2 And they also wrote that the tires was gone after one lap (both on the Ring and at Hockenheim). Making it impossible to replicate the lap times without new tires... They blame the weight of the M5 for this. Also complain about fading brakes... But I would also love to see a Supertest of a M5 CP with CCB |

They might on the M5 due to its greater weight. CCB would improve fade resistance. |
