Btw OP, how much dsc off driving did you do in your f8x and did you still have the stock PSS? Dsc on plus power cutoff from stock tires was a Big downer for me.

Might have been my imagination but I thought the exhaust sound was worsened also when the traction control activated.

The steering on the e92(hydraulic) is SO mush better than f80!!!! Steering is sublime on e92!

I felt the same way. I absolutely LOVED my e92M. I was nevertheless looking to try the next thing with the F80, but came away very disappointed. I discovered I'm just not a turbo guy. the power doesn't give me the emotional experience that the sounds and feel of the NA motor did. thus, I sold my F80 and moved on.

I could easily see myself adding another M to the stable down the road, but it will be an E92 ZCP with no Nav (cleaner interior that will stand the test of time better).

the F80 is an amazing car though - still sets the bar for its category, and it's astonishingly capable in every way. just didn't excite me for a weekend car the way the e92 did (but I admit it's not meant to be a weekend car, so it was my fault, not the car's fault).

crazy how dated the e90 looks. I think the e92 has held up better.

love the proportions of the f80. Looks lower and wider...larger flares. Badass.

Have to agree, of the E9x series I preferred the coupe. I had that before I made the switch to sedan. But I love the sedan for its own reasons, and they seem to hold value pretty well with lower miles. Of the F8x generation I prefer the sedan over the coupe 100%. Not that the M4 isn't a looker, just the M3 is so damn sexy haha.

Everyone is on the dot when it comes to steering between the two cars, the E90 communicates, while the F80 seems very artificial. Also, the when shifting in the E90 whether up or down, there is always a theatrical experience. In the F80, the only theatrics is when I build boost and let off, for a loud and still pleasing fart.

IMHO the best F80 theatrics are spinning through all of the low gears with DSC off when launching the car, and doing a 60-100mph pull. I think the F generation is designed to have no theatrics when not pushed hard, and I can see how that would turn off owners looking for an "always on" weekend car

Have to agree that's why when I jump from my F80 to the E90, the E90 tends to feel even slower than it is. Also, in terms of theatrics I was talking about sound, without mentioning exhaust note. Or else this topic would get wayyy off topic haha. But your right, full TCS off and launching car, rolling start from any gear and effortless pull through RPMs makes for a great car in its own way. I for one have no complaints about either M generation, but I believe the F80 is an improvement in every way for sure.

I thought I missed my e92 in my F80 but I just missed a coupe. M3 looks good but felt wayyyyy bigger than my M4 sitting in it.

Funny though, go research some reviews of the E92 and they claimed back then it didn't have the greatest steering feel compared with other cars.

Why not both? E9X prices continue to fall.

So do I. But I would not trade my F82 for it though.

YUP, me too. I'm going back to a E92 or 997 C2S after the F82. This car is fun and amazing in so many ways, but I have lost the excitement of owning one, time to move back to NA engines. Just LOVE that high strung V8, simply soul stirring in a way the F82 can't equal unfortunately (at least not the civic M4 : ) lol.

I do agreed that the sound makes a difference, and its not like we can go fast during the daily drive anyway. It's too bad the MPE was not the standard part on the cars at launch. (If it had a more aggressive exhaust, and cup 2 tires, it would have gotten so much positive hype in the car magazines, IMHO)

I feel the same way about my old E46 M3 OP. I miss the smaller feel of the E46 with a high revving naturally aspirated engine.

If the E90 weren't so godawful ugly, I'd have grabbed one over the F80. Sorry, I know some of you own(ed) it, but the tail lights and rear end on that car are so bad I'd hate myself every time I saw it. The E92 is a thing of beauty though, sucks how Bangle ruined an entire generation of BMW's.

Did any of you guys SC your E92?

F82 vs stockE92. FSeries all day
The SC made the E92 a thrill. The noise and the rush to redline was amazing

What im struggling with now is 35k for an 09-10 or step up and pay 40-42k for a 12-13. That and the dct/6mt struggle. Love my manuals but the e92 is so much livelier with the DCT.

I'll probably get bashed for saying this but, I never liked the E92. Coming from an E46 it wasn't that much of an improvement (almost identical torque and E92 was heavier). Anyway, I owned E36, E46 and now F80 and I was so underwhelmed with the E92 that I bought a C63 and loved every minute of it. Let the torching begin...

Funny E92 was my first M car and all I heard was how great the E46s were. My roommate then got an E46 and I felt about it the exact way you do about the e92. Meh.

One big thing is the E46 sounds almost as bad as an S55 but the E92 sounds good.
