2018 Audi RS5 Released + Official Photos
I love the car, interior is better than the C63 and on the level of the M4 and lighter than the C63 Even With AWD, the only downsides are that its an 8 speed automatic and no R8 Steering Wheel Like TTRS.
The world has been without an Audi RS5 since 2015, but finally, that changes. Today at the Geneva Motor Show, the 2018 RS5 made its debut with 450 horsepower and all sorts of clever chassis tricks up its sleeve. It's the all-wheel drive alternative to the M4. That 450 horsepower comes from a new 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 that Audi says has been "developed from the ground up." The engine is based off the V6 that made its debut in the new Porsche Panamera 4S and generates 442.5 lb-ft of torque in this application. As with the new Audi S5, the only transmission option for the RS5 is an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic. This drivetrain helps the RS5 sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and when ordered with the optional Dynamic Package, top speed is 174 mph. The RS5's weight of 3648 lbs is 132 lbs lighter than its predecessor, and Audi says it's capable of achieving 27 US mpg in the European test cycle. The RS5's 450 horsepower is sent to all four wheels with a torque split of 40 percent at the front axle, and 60 percent at the rear . Optional is a rear sport differential, which should help make the RS5 even more nimble. Also, as the top picture shows, it'll allow for oversteer. There's five-link suspension at both the front and the rear, and there's an optional RS sport suspension with adaptive dampers. Carbon ceramic brakes and dynamic steering are also available as options. Inside, there's all the goodness you'd expect from a modern Audi, plus a handful of trim pieces to remind you you're in an RS5. Outside, Audi says the design is inspired by the Audi 90 IMSA GTO that dominated US sports car racing back in the early 1990s. As the only all-wheel-drive car in its segment, the RS5 should make for an interesting comparison with the M4, Mercedes-AMG C63, and Cadillac ATS-V. Hopefully we'll find out how it drives sooner than later. |

Could be a very solid car... I have 2 issues though...
1) an 8 spd auto? Come On... 2)Is the 3650 lb curb weigh believable with AWD? I highly doubt that. |

Doesn't look all that special on the exterior IMO. At least they are reducing the size of the front grill vs taking up a majority of the front end.

This will be at the top of my list purely for the AWD... I love my RWD sports cars but AWD in my climate is king.
It will also be grossly overpriced in its segment I'm sure. |

Sorry but not feeling it... Didnt like the A5 when it launched, and this hasnt changed my mind.
To be frank it looks like shit... too many lines and creases all over the place. All the black and brushed aluminium contrasts work against it as well... Just too busy a design and a massive let down from the gen 1 Audi A5 which was a beaut (muscular yet elegant). For me Merc's AMG coupe takes this coupe trophy this round. BMW M3 takes the sedan trophy this round (haven't seen the Alfa in person yet) The Audi is already a forgotten contender in my mind. |

Audi used to be neck and neck with Bimmer in terms of exterior styling. With the F8x Bimmer completely blew Audi away. Fast forward 3 years since the F8x hit the market, Audi has had ample time to prepare a response....and THIS is what they come to market with? Looks like an A5 with an aero kit.

Looking like an $85k starting price. Not really comparable to the m4 in that sense.

At least it can be had in red! My only real disappointment with the M is color choice. One can either go boring or funky but I'd still pick the M. I've heard bad things about 8 to 10 speed slush boxes constantly gear searching.

It's somewhat underwhelming to be honest, especially the lack of DCT.
I'll probably never test drive either of them, but I have a very strong hunch that I would choose the RS3 over the RS5, even if the latter had four doors (i.e. an RS4 sedan or the upcoming RS5 Sportback). |
