In general I am a bit surprised by how generic and numb the reviews are; disappointing in their lack of relevant new information, mostly parroting the previously released sound bites from BMW.
Agreed. I also don’t like it when they don’t compare it against other cars. yea, its better than the e92 m3, they don’t get worse. I would love some context and clues on how it stacks up against the competition. Is this a stand out benchmark or just another good car.

These drives occured, i believe, mored than a week ago. You're seeing the flood of reviws as the embargo likely lifted at midnight in europe. These have been typed up for days.

Great write up Jason. Thanks.

My only problem now is deciding between M3 and M4. Don't need four doors but absolutely love the way it looks.

It may be faster, but the sound I hear every time I'm in M mode and Rev the engine is like injecting adrenaline directly into yourself. Sucks the new one doesn't have the same magic otherwise it would've been perfect.

Turbo charged cars can sound good, will have to wait and see. Its very subjective.

Very happy to know that the F8x M cars will allow us to continue the DCT vs 6MT debate. Choice is a great thing.

Driven hard in Sport and Sport Plus mode, there is essentially no turbo lag, as BMW keeps the turbos spinning by maintaining air flow as the driver gets off the throttle. Engine speed is reduced by cutting cylinders. The effect lasts for one or two seconds - enough to facilitate an immediate response when the car is driven hard. With this feature, the agility of the S55 is unprecedented for a turbo engine. Thanks to the broad usable torque and power band, it will be simply impossible for an E9x M3 to keep up with a well-driven F8x."

The paragraph and the last statement should awaken the beast among the 2013 E9x crowd.
Love it especially the bold part.

Did the car you drove have the adaptive suspension?

Your location information is wrong. And yes, we both will end up dead, but these guys will laugh at the news clip, so many wins, two looses. It's not bad, is it?

What I think: a turbo has lag by design but it's applied in a way where it's non-existent in the real world.

Yes, I imagine it's just because there is much less than one would expect. They should just call it "negligible" or "minimal"- we know some exists. HOWEVER, the feel I got from reading the articles was thinking to my previous FI days where say a Supra with a pair of T60s vs a K24-powered hatch with an SC61 turbo vs. a stock turbo 135i. I suppose they say "essentially none" since everything is so relative.

I am so freaking excited for June 23!!!
The F8x is simply a totally different car than the E9x. Hard comparison. So I am keeping the E92 and adding the F82.
