no need for anything but a tune ... you will want down pipes if you turn it up a lot tho

We've done quite a few E85 BM3 tunes on the dyno.

Good set of filters and colder plugs will get you ready to rock. Catless downpipes doesn't hurt either.

what's the power gain is it worth it the closest e-85 is 40 mins away so would have to grab a barrel or something haha / but I don't need any of that flex fuel shit ( I come from a WRX STI lol )

Should see close to ~550whp with catless downpipe. I'd say its definitely worth it. Invest in a couple of 5gal race jugs and keep them at home.

BM3 comes with a Stage 1/2 pump gas tune, you can always switch between the pump tune/E85 tune depending on what fuel is available. If you have the BM3 agent installed (or a laptop), you can switch maps instantly.

Midpipe/muffer won't do anything in temps of HP, unless you're aiming for sound only.

We use CaryTheLabelGuy, you will need to have the car on a dyno (preferably dynojet) for tuning.

Dyno is required to get the most power safely, this is not an OTS tune.

A list of dynojet-equipped facilities can be viewed here: http://www.dynojet.com/dynocenters/d...o-centers.aspx

If you go with F80Paul you will not need a dyno ... i at this time have the fastest and quickest 6mt stock turbo F80 on E85 and have never strapped to a dyno

Interesting. Good results if it turns out to be safe longer term. However, the advice to say a dyno is not needed is highly unusual. Most tuners really value a dyno with E85 to avoid passing MBT and unnecessarily stressing the engine. With the faster flame front speed of E85 it is easy to over advance the timing if you are no longer knock limited.

Being that our cars tuning is load based, street logging is much more effective than a non loaded dyno. A dyno is definitely safer but you would want to get on mustang or a loaded dynojet.

Dyno is great for tuning but you want to simulate real world loads on the car for that final check.

I've been told that the stock fuel pump won't last with E85 only... the seals will go bust with time... adding AN-6 fuel lines and a compatible fuel pump capable of handling everything should be added to the equation...

Experts please chime in!

Please state your source, along with testing methods and quantifiable data.

Otherwise, there's a handful of us on here that will tell you that's all hearsay. There's a reason why it's mandatory to periodically cycle the fuel system through a tank of pump gas.

I'm pretty sure Cary can calibrate a custom E85 tune based purely on street logs, but $$$ is the reason why vendors are promoting his services.

Either way, you can't go wrong with Paul, Cary, Jordan, or Pureboost when it comes to maximizing the stock turbos on E85. All have produced excellent results on the S55 platform.

Local mechanic who has always worked BMWs... maybe its related to older fuel pumps? N54 or else? Either way, I've always read in here that there is no need to upgrade fuel lines or pumps to run E85... just a proper tune to maximize the benefits of the better fuel.

That was basically hearsay, or good old car talk BS. If it came from an established tuning shop, or highly reputable tuner, then it'll be worth paying attention to.
