Individual Paint: Is the engine bay and underside of your hood cleared and polished?

So someone pointed this out on my car that I never noticed. The underside of my hood and entire engine bay was cleared and polished and I'm wondering who else has this. I've seen multiple other individual cars none of which have this done. Did I get some special treatment or something? LOL

VDC probably cleared everything when they fixed your car after it was damaged during shipping.

There is no way .... that's insane! They literally would've had to take the engine out. I added photos to first post.

I'm guessing you got this because you have individual paint and paid extra.

Individual paint cars are hand painted on a separate line (at least in Regensburg). It looks like you may have had an overzelous painter or there is some variability in their process.

Well nonetheless it looks damn good. Maybe you are the only one with a true "individual" color, because in this instance, it is 100% fact. I understand your curiousness, but you know what? I think its a good problem even though your car is different from the rest of the f8x owners out there. I'm sure some other the other anal owners out there wished their engine bay was painted as well.

Were they true individual, or semi-individual (i.e. one of the 4 "individual" options listed on the Build Your Own site)?

Oh, i'm not concerned at all or upset. I just wanted to know who else got this because it's awesome! I'm waiting on someone else that has SMB to let me know if it's something that SMB cars get or if it's just random maybe....

Both F80's. One around the same production date and the other one of the first individuals's.

Hmmm...maybe BMW had a new guy in the paint shop and wanted him to practice a bit first!

Nah - they let them practice on the M4s before they let them touch an M3

First, looks awesome. I'm AW so I guess I have to take a closer look to see if it's clearcoated; I thought it was but perhaps not.

Second, genuine question I hadn't considered before: Clearcoat does not stand up well to significant heat. Will normal clearcoat in an engine bay withstand the level of heat near the turbos/block? I know on the outside edges of the engine bay it would be fine.
