Value of a loaded 2017 F83 CPO

Looking at a local cpo 2017 with 6k miles. Has dct, 437 wheels, exec pack, ccb, ext. leather but no comp. pack.

Its cpo, but not sure if 5/75 or 6/100 (though I likely won't last that long and even if I go 4 yaesr would only have 62k miles +/-).

Building car on BMWUSA (2018) shows an msrp of $96k. Dealer wants 80k.

Overpriced in my opinion.

2017 let’s assume was sold in September of 2016. Let’s say monthly payments of $1,100. Multiply that over 16 months that $17,600

96k minus 17.6k you get $78.4

Wear and tear etc I’d subtract another $5k.
I’d offer $75k no more.

Actually sold 10/27, auctioned 11/13, so 13 months at $14,300. 96k ,inus 14.3 and you get $81,700. Assuming 5k for wear and tear, your at 76,700, but cpo warranty is worth at least 3k, so back to 79,700.

CPO doesn’t cost the dealer anything.

I mean try to go as low as possible.

My car was only 6 months old when I got it with only 7k miles and I got $12k off msrp

As a matter of fact it does. Worked in several BMW dealerships, CPO definitely was a cost to factor for the dealership. Minimum 3 hour shop inspection when you take in a trade/off lease for labor. Then there's if it actually needs repairs. Average car can be around a couple grand in repairs. Very seldom is nothing needed. Then there's the warranty and whether it's 1 year/unlimited or 2 year/unlimited. So you are looking at $2-3k dealer cost to CPO most cars.

Now as far as the OP, whether or not this particular car is a fair deal I could not say. Depends on the market and what similar cars are pulling at auction/retail and what the dealer is in the car for. If the MSRP of the car was around $96K as what was originally posted, I'd say 80K seems like a fair deal for a CPO'ed car with only 6K miles. You'll also want to confirm the original in service date which will tell you the exact day/month the car was put into service.

Either way, I'd do some more research (and confirm the above). But you definitely pay more for a CPO car as you should. It's not free to the dealer to CPO a car.

I can’t get that build higher than $88k for a new 2018 unless the car in question has extra MP carbon bits, exhaust, full leather (over extended leather) or an individual color not referenced in the original post.

Keeping in mind prices dropped a little in ‘18 from ‘17, the dealer is asking way too much.

Correction: can’t get it over $92 as I forgot DCT.

Non-ZCP for $80k? Even with CCBs, I would start my offer around $75k unless as was mentioned, it has M Performance parts installed too, particularly MPE.

Don't forget it does not include the factory maintenance for 3/36 anymore (unless they are honoring that).

I agree with $75k as a good price point to aim for. Nothing higher than $78k. This is a one year old model now and you should assume it sold at/below invoice.

At that price I would just get a new one, albeit with fewer options.

Perhaps drop the CCB from a new build.

Thats what I was thinking. This price is new car territory, why bother pre-owned if you are willing to spend that much.

F83 base is around $77k new 6MT, non exec/no DCT etc. For the options he listed (ccb's, full extended leather, etc you are going to be well into the upper 80's/90's if you were to spec those options new on a hardtop convertible M4.

So yeah, he can get into a brand new one at around 80K or less (CP and DCT will push you over $80K), but it's not going to have the same equipment. It also could have a year+ extra of warranty left depending on the CPO. This is why he needs to know the original in service date. Was it actually put into service in early/mid 2017 or was it a late 2016 build?

Need to know all the facts, in service date, original MSRP, full equipment list, etc before we can start making accurate comparisons regarding price.

Building today got me to $96,520

My personal config was $88,690, no CCB but add Comp Pack.

Is the car speced exactly as you would order it? If the answer is 'No', I would definitely pass on this car. You can buy brand new and negotiate within hundreds of dollars of invoice and get up to ~$6,000 in incentives.
