this is pretty close. and keep in mind that's what the stealership is ASKING. which they won't get unless you're bad at negotiations and cave like a straw house.

+10k miles and +5k, I wouldn't call that close. And the dealer won't let that go for 45k either.

Well it doesn't say it is a CPO car. Anyway it seems to be an excellent opportunity. The car is almost fully loaded at 50k from a dealer is impossible. I wonder what can be fishy about it...,

My '15 F80 has been the most reliable BMW for me so far. Very happy with it! My '08 Z4 M Coupe is only SLIGHTLY behind on the reliability scale which I love especially since I'm keeping that car forever.

I'm curious to see how these hold up over long periods of time. Lots of folks still swear BMW will fall apart between 60 and 100k miles.

My buddies 328i is unfortunately beginning to resemble that :\

If it was rear end accident I'd get it. Otherwise would need more info.

Be careful and look at that car with a fine toothed comb. We were ready to buy a used 15 loaded in NJ, took the train up there even. It was hit in the rear and the repair was not very good as the door/fuel lid/trunk gaps were all off with paint runs in the jambs. The sales guy was adamant on the phone that it didn't even look like it was hit.

We walked away.

Good to hear that F80 M3 is above BMW average.

We'll see about valve-cover, oil filter housing, oil filter cooler, oil pan gaskets since looks like it share with non-M N55 engine. And boy if I have a dollar for every time I see these leaks on BMW cars

I would like to know about the reliability of the DCT since the ratio of DCT to Manual seems to be about 10:1 on auto trader right now. I've also been told by a couple owners that DCT fits the nature of the car and the performance far better. The 6MT is somewhat vague and not super precise, or so I've been told. I've only driven a single F80 M3 and it was a DCT car.

What are the other reliability items I need to be concerned about?

This seems to be one of the most reliable M3's that I can remember.

I will definitely purchase a CPO car if I go BMW, but do NOT like the way they have cheapened the CPO program to only be 5 years from in service date. I will probably pay for maintenance at the time of purchase.
Manual has been superb so far. I like it so much I’m getting a new one this summer. It fits the nature of the car well, the gears are spaced correctly and the torque makes it driveable in several gears at any road speed.

It’s also the only BMW I have owned that doesn’t consume ANY oil between changes. I track it several times a year, but treat it with mechanical sympathy (never rev or load when cold, in between oil changes, etc).

It’s been so far the most reliable and capable BMW I’ve had, by quite a margin.

No hesitation about buying second hand, if it was maintained correctly. Occasional track should be no deterrent, it was made for that. Just get a thorough PPI by a shop that knows these cars.

Good luck!

Does that sound more reliable than steel?

CF driveshaft tech has been around for decades. i ran an aftermarket one in turbo cars in early 2000's and they've been around since 90's.

if there would be any issues with these cars, they wont be from the CF driveshaft.

as far as the hub issue, is it just the crank bolt coming loose and the hub falling off? crank bolt snapping?
can anyone point me to details on that failure

You really want one with a competition package - big difference in traction and handling, plus the exhaust is great.

Seems like welds on the MPE are prone to rust but that's all I've seen across a lot of threads where '15s are discussed.
