LCI headlights: settle for standard or reorder with adaptive “Icon”?
As some of you might already know, I ordered my 18 M3, and my CA screwed my order so I do not have the new adaptive headlights. My car is arriving at the dealership in a week. He now is offering to place another order with the adaptive headlights, but it will take another 10-12 weeks.
The new headlight was such a big deal to me, and it was also one of the reasons I ordered my car. Now I either pick this one up or continue waiting. I just want your honest opinion on which headlights you think look better if you had an option to do it over. (Current 15-17 owners) as I am going through this rough decision, thank you!!! |

Incentives may not be good in 10-12 weeks. Also your current car probably has the CF driveshaft. The one you order in 10-12 weeks probably won't.

I would order a new car and ask for more discount for fucking up the order and lock in rates on 11/30.
New headlight > driveshaft. You won't even feel the difference with driveshaft but you'll see the headlight multiple times a day. |

My M4 is 15 w/ LED, my M3 is LCI II w/ Iconic LEDs.
They are both fine but the Iconic LEDs look better. However, that being said. A few threads around here said 2018 M3 got the Iconic LEDs regardless if you got the package or not. So maybe wait a little before you choose.

I've never been one to make purchase decisions based on headlights but if it was critical to you, I guess you should wait for a new car.

So your order is missing the Executive Package?

If the headlights are that important, don't settle. I'm a huge fan of the iconic lights and that was the primary driver for getting the Exec Pack, but now that I have the car, I'm glad to have the HUD. But if you don't care about the rest of the Exec Pack, how about asking the dealer to retrofit the icons into the car at their cost, since they messed up the order?

I have the newer headlights and love them,, but never drove the other..
I would wait.. don’t settle on a $85,000, car and not have what you want.. just make the monthly payment to yourself for a few months and buy some extras for the new car..

I have the standard LED headlights on my ‘18 and they are great. I had the adaptive headlights on my previous car and their functionality was not a big deal to me. I opted for a No on the exec package. I have no concerns with resale impact for not having adaptive lights when I sell my car in 18-24 months.

1. The 552 option gets you ADAPTIVE headlights which provide the movement of the headlights as you steer. 2. The 552 option gets you the "new look" headlights with the lower lines extending to the grille. |

Headlight retrofits (even at dealer cost) are crazy expensive. It's way more than checking the Exec option. |
