If new m3 is 10 sec faster than m5, it means 7:40. It also means that F80 M 3 is 25 seconds faster than E9x M3 at the ring. Thats significantly faster than previous gen. m3. I hope its true. If it is, i will not trade my m3 for 2013 GTR. We will have to wait and see.

Providing reasoning for a statement is encouraged rather than just making the statement.
Please reread this entire (short) thread. Next note that nearly all new generation cars outperform their predecessors. You can also use power to weight arguments as I have done. The logical conclusion is that the car absolutely will be sub 4.0!

Historically, each new gen. m3 outperforms the previous one by a good margin. Lets hope BMW continues this trend. I love S65 engine, especially now, in cold weather(its in 20s F in new york) it performs on another level, much faster. Really feels like a different car. Unfortunately its a lot slower in 70+F. I think naturally aspirated engines benefit a lot from a dense air. And sound is amazing. But ultimately we buy m3 for high performance, so if new m3 is significantly faster, i will probably trade e92 m3 for F80 M3

I am still desperately seeking any sound reasoning as to how folks are coming to this conclusion. We can make basic phyiscs and trend based predictions and they all point against your opinion.
That is the big question for the next gen car. I don't think BMW will disappoint. Would I rather have the same performance with NA, sure, but it ain't going to happen.

You can here her brains out but it will not change the thing.
BMW currently manages very successfully, to prevent a flow of information from within the company. Therefore, information is also very sparse. Only so far seem to stand the following facts established: - About 440 hp - Weight to 1400 Kg - In-line six cylinder engine with turbo In the inner circle of speculative facts is as follows: - Nordschleife at the 7:40 - Possibly a whole new concept with two twin turbo Turbos Turbos for a total of four - 3.0 to 3.3 liters of displacement Everything else will follow in the coming weeks. Rumor also has a kinematic suspension, the wheels are similar to what a motorcycle tends to curve inwards. But I am convinced that we will in the coming weeks and months are not without information. For the M5 is on the market, M6 is available in all three variants to be launched shortly, so will start sometime in the near future, the intensive testing with the F80. |

Anyway - My predictions ended up being not too far off back in 2011 (first magazine tests were released around 2014)... |
