Why are you buying a car based on sound?
You just lost all credibility.

Some people hate the sound of the M3/M4 with a passion, I don't think it sounds nearly as bad as people make it out to be. One should never compare it to the V8 in the previous model because obviously the V8 will sound better just as the V10 M5 sounded better.

I'd never let the sound be an issue of owning it as the F80/F82 are way better than the previous gen in terms of visual appeal.

On that note, I thought my neighbor had his M4 sitting in his garage warming up, but I think it was actually a gardener down the street.

If I had $100k to spend, it would buy a Cayman GT4. If money grew on a tree and an extra $40-50k wouldn't take too long to save on top of the $100k I'd try and find a stripped 991 GT3 or at least an allocation. Even two years of waiting to accumulate the extra money would be worth the wait.

I am happy to report that my wife no longer thinks my car sounds pussy.

I moved on to a 2017 911 S with the 420HP 3.0 liter twin turbo motor (991.2). Its well optioned and came with red leather and 4 wheel steering plus the sport exhaust!

MPE and Hex tune. I was one that thought the E9x sounded weak, but then again I had a W204 C63.

I think I like the sound of the Remus more, but I'm still adjusting to it the change.

I got to hear stock exhaust with down pipes today too. That actually sounded very good. Sounded pretty deep too.

I'm pretty sure I won't be doing much more to this car. It's a great car. It's an awesome car. But I can't connect with it like I did with my m3. It's just missing that sound that some of us need to fully love the driving experience. I also know I could never own a batter car either. I need that v8 roar!

I miss my E92 m3. = (
You have buyers remorse due to the love you had for your E92 M3.

It was taken from you well before you ready for it to go and it's replacement is not up to your emotional standards (loved your E92 M3) and you are either consciously or subconsciously looking for reasons to get rid of the M4.

It's ok, you can let it go. You are clearly not over your last (automotive) relationship so move on.

Those others cars you mentioned will not fill the void, they are replacements but they cannot replace the M3 that was taken so don't even try.

Start looking for another E92 M3 that ticks the boxes and makes you happy and don't ask your wife.

This is the sound you are looking for. It is extreme measures to get it to sound like this but it is the quintessential sound profile for the S65B40 engine.

Do your self a favor, turn up your speakers and skip to 1:05 because you won't believe what you are hearing.

Glad your happy man! The exhaust note on this car is the definitely the worst part.

Worst sounding p car currently is the 718. New 911s sound just about the same as before "inside" the cabin.

This isn't true- having driven the old 911 the new one doesn't sound the same in any place or time as the old one. If you buy the new 911 now sports exhaust is a must!!! Whereas before believe me you didn't need it, the high revving engine right behind your head was perfect!

All I know is, no one is saying my car sounds like a lawnmower anymore. And I have the sport exhaust which sounds pretty good to me.

I don't think ANYONE says the M4 sounds like a lawn mower with or without aftermarket exhaust. Perhaps the better investment should've been in "debrox"

Can someone name a modern performance-oriented vehicle which they think sounds worse than the M3/M4? Please provide clips, either stock or modded. I'm genuinely curious.

Then there are the "burbles" and the demographic of people who actually think they sound cool...
