Yup. Plus RS5s are holding value fairly well due to the limited production. I even see a few on Autotrader going for over $100k.
No RS5 will sell at anywhere near $100k without a gold brick in the trunk... They are holding up in value reasonably well.

The M3 always feel faster because the rear want to come around but that doesn't mean it actually is faster. How many times do you see a F1 car go around a track with the rear end hanging out.
First of all I don't really care what some magazine claims (faster laps bit). You never reach top speeds at the track anyway. I mostly if not only care what I thought about the car. While E9X is not light by any means, RS5 is that much heavier which is a big part of it feeling lazy.

Speaking of F1 cars, how many of them are all wheel drive?

SOM3 I'm not even saying that the RS5 is faster on the track than an e92 M3. If you say that the RS5 is "okay"...that's a fair opinion. But when you say things to the OP who actually has a RS5 and not an A4 such as "the RS5 isn't even close" or "it can't compete" you lose all credibility. The OP went out of his way to provide a fair unbiased review of his current car and the new M, let's not thank him by using hyperbole and minority opinions to ridicule his current car just so you can feel better about a car you don't even have yet

Of course they are not close. You are comparing 6 to 7 years old cars to a new one.

Great review, both are cars I love!

My friend's wife went from a BMW to the RS5 and she loves it. We ran into each other at the gas station the other day and I can't stop looking at the lines on that car

Life is good when you can chose between the m3 and RS5 ~ can't go wrong with either however if I was still in midwest, it would be a no brainer, Audi all the way!

Exactly what I was getting at. It seems like the OP and the magazine has driven both and both have said they prefer the M4 so obviously aren't RS5 fanboys yet SOM3 thinks the RS5 isn't in the same league and thinks the M3/M4 is some supercar compared to the RS5. Then says the RS5 is no good at the track and then says some crap about not reaching top speed ad the track anyway when it was shown the RS5 lapped the track faster more consistently. Nothing said of top speed either.

I think that is subjective... some, me included, don't like the style of the Audi interior. From that perspective, I would rate the BMW, MB and even the Stingray interior better from a design and looks perspective. But that is just my view and is completely subjective. I'm not suggesting Audi isn't high quality, I'm talking about the subjective view of the design of the interior.

Hard for me to believe that BMW DCT is not better or at least on par with S-Tronic of Audi. I guess I will have to wait for detailed comparisons. Because there was no indication from the track head to head comparisons that Audi had any edge on BMW when it came down to the performance of the transmission.

None the less thanks for a review

I think people use the word "subjective" same way as people say inner beauty....

Really, I'm a huge BMW fan but their interiors are always one step behind Lexus and Mercedes. Audi is in a class by itself on interiors.

Granted the new M3 does take it up a notch but go sit in a RS5, RS7, or even my loaner A8 I had for the past 5 days and you realize what BMW is lacking. I've had plenty of seat time behind the M5 / 7-series as well and they are flawed in many ways.

But again we all love inner beauty and pick the overweight girl right

Oh, it's definitely on par but the up shifts didn't 'feel' faster with the DCT and the down shifts didn't give me the engine 'blip' as cleanly as the RS5 does. I also wasn't a huge fan of how hard the shifts were under WOT but that's been pointed out to be a setting.

Either way, they're both great transmissions and you can't go wrong either way!

I like the design of the Audi interiors much better as well but I hate they don't offer full leather in any of their cars except the 8's!

I surely hope the new B9 platform changes that....

My R8 has full suede / leather but I see your point ~ Mercedes has the same issue with their C-Class, even the AMG version.
