Smile 2014 M3 spotted in Los Angeles Streets

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Before you watch, I'd like to add that we didn't have the usual Nikon that we have. Since California is finally getting some rain, didn't think we'd need it.

Anyway, what does everyone think of the sound of the new I6 (last clip in the video)? I much prefer the high revving V8 from the previous gen. I don't know if there'll be any changes to exhaust when the car is officially released, but, in my opinion, I like the V8 more.

In front of the M3 was a camouflaged 2 series. I have no idea where they went after, didn't follow for too long.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!

It's an I6 not v6 and any v8 will sound better than V6 or I6 turbo cars. The new M3 will eat the old v8 in every category except sound which is over rated... To me anyway.

It still sounds nice, despite wind and rain noise the video made...but I'm sure there will be a few after-market exhaust for this. Nice sound going through the tunnel.

An I6 doesn't sound like a V8? This is new and interesting.

I'll fix that lol.
I agree with you, of course, that the new M3 will eat the old M3. I'm just gonna miss the V8, that's all lol.

No worries, trust me the v8 sound of a Shelby beats an e92x hands down but guess what, I don't care to rattle my garage or wake up my neighbors. I am a turbo guy, love the raspy racy sound of the i6 turbo. Would I have complained that the new M3 was a v8 twin turbo? No but it would have also been heavier and a gas guzzler.

Likely all but the C63 (..which will probably have the straight line nod) and the Stingray.

Oh god, it has start/stop.

And they'll be introduced as 2015 models, not 2014.

Should I get headers or is this too loud?

Warning: Random exhaust fireball content.

What's the big deal? It can be deactivated. The 2011+ E9X ///M3's had it too.

You will see a f80M3 in YMB driving around SoCal now. A buddy of mine who works for BMW is driving that car for a little while. Keep your eyes peeled everyone!

He currently drove a e92M and he told me that the f80M is a whole new league. Said the car is a animal and although it doesn't have a v8 it sounds super good! I can't reveal who he is but he is on this forum so keep your eyes open and your camera running you should spot him around!

Are they still R&D'ing the car even though it is now in production or is it more of a marketing strategy. My guess is the latter.

^^I would guess marketing or could be something on the lines of using it as a education piece for the dealers. BMW is really good at taking cars to dealerships and meeting with staff and going over options etc.. ITs pretty cool they do that.

Can you speak to him and write up a quick review of what he likes about the car- how is the steering, sound etc. Every person on this forum would be grateful I'm sure.

^^No sorry. All he is allowed to tell me is a few little insights. I can't also tell you who is on the forum bc he could get in trouble. Not worth it for me or for him. All I can tell you is the car is out here in SoCal for a a couple months driving around so he on the look out.
