10.25" Touchscreen with Android

Hi folks, I just talked to Tommy today over at Avin... he mentioned that this would be a complete plug and play install for my 2016 F80 M3... order placed today, should get the unit sometime next week...

Interested to see your thoughts. Couple of questions
1-does it work seamlessly with the original backup camera?
2-can you access all the original functions (TPMS in particular)

I was told yes on all accounts by Tommy. The wait begins....

Do you have ID5 or ID4? If you have ID4, it should be PnP. Not sure about the OEM backup camera shifting over while the Android UI is active though. According to an F30 user with ID4 and an OEM backup camera (in another thread about this unit), the OEM camera did not auto switch when the unit had the Android UI active, it only switched over to the screen when the OEM ID4 UI was active.

If you have ID5, your hardware could be APIX 1 (old hardware) or APIX 2 (new hardware). Not sure when the switch occurred in the 2016 model year, but according to another user with a MY2016 F80 w/ID5, he allegedly had the older hardware.

So I am ID4, and you are correct on the backup camera when in Android. I figure it's not too much of an issue since it's just a matter of hitting a button on the console.

But yes, having Waze, bigger screen, better apps etc made me pull the trigger in lieu of having to jump to iD for backing up

Another quick update...

My order has shipped from Hong Kong, and expected delivery date to me is this Thursday, Aug 24th....

So far so good, quick service.... let's see how the rest of the process goes

So after the receiving the item, doing the updates that were sent over by Tommy, I will say the unit is a pain in the ass and does not behave as it should. Wifi connection is total garbage... well let me state there is no wifi connection! I've tried to connect to ios devices, android devices, even a stand alone hotspot... the damn thing does not connect.

On paper looks like a good devices... in execution it's junk.

Update is that I pulled it out and put it on a shelf. It's a haphazardly thrown together device that works if you're willing to fiddle around a lot... def not plug and play and def not worth the money or effort

Unfortunately, I can't tell for sure based on your pictures. Based on your production date though, I would say your head unit is a newer one which requires an APIX 2 compatible monitor.

The voltage converters are not that expensive so even if you bought one as a precaution and did not need it, you would not be out too much money.
