M laptimer now supports GoPro
I haven't tried it yet but my app updated today, and the updated note included the following.
I've been waiting for this... can't wait to try it out.

Nice, the gopro link to idrive died for me when they updated the gopro ios app to the 'capture' app. Hopefully this restores it. Thanks for the heads up.

Excellent news!
I just updated the app on my iPod Touch and uploaded it to the car via ConnectedDrive. The app now has a GoPro selection which allows you to turn the GoPro on and off. You first need to pair the GoPro to your iDevice via Wi-Fi then start the M Laptimer on your device. When you start the Laptimer, the GoPro starts recording. Pretty straightforward setup!

I use the suction cup and mount it all over the place. I've never had issues as long as you have a clean surface.

The note states that support for newer models will be coming shortly, but as long as it took them to get to this point, who knows what shortly means.

At my last track weekend I remember getting so pissed at the M Laptimer app and my Hero 5 that I started having to skip using the Laptimer and only record with the GoPro. The app does a good job recording data to your phone but between it starting or not starting your GoPro, turning the GoPro on or off if it was already on or what ever combo, I could not figure out how to simply make the two devices function together. I had video of it cutting on or off randomly during the session.
Test this out before you get there. I didn't pair my GoPro to the car and I don't remember pairing my GoPro to the phone but they knew each other was there and completely upset me.

Does the new GoPro HERO6 Black work with the M Lap Timer?
I have a HERO4 Silver and it works great with the M Lap Timer in my 2016 M4. My wife and i are doing Euro Delivery on her M3 in July and the dealer has offered to buy a new GoPro for us to use during our 3 week trip in exchange for using some of the footage for promotional purposes. I did some research and told the dealer the current prices on the HERO5 Black (last years model, $249) and the new HERO6 Black ($399). The dealer said whichever one I want, as it would be ours to keep.
I know that there were some major changes between the 4 and the 5 and it took awhile for the 5 to work with the lap timer, but it appears that the 6 is more of an upgrade to the 5. We won't be driving at any tracks during this delivery as we did in 2016, so immediate functionality is not an issue. If I were buying it myself I would probably go for the 6 as I would not prefer not to buy year-old technology, and the difference in price wouldn't be an issue. Has anyone used a HERO6 with the M Lap Timer?
