Keeping the M4 or switching to an M2?
Currently have a 2016 M4 with comp package. Nice Car...
Was able to order an M2, in production now... Tough choice: keep the M4 or swap out for an M2 History: owned E36, E46 and E90 M3s.... Thoughts? |

It all depends what you are looking for in the car. If you want something that just works out of the box without fiddling with any settings then get M2. I hear M2 is more of a purist version of what a M3 should've been.

Why did you order the m2 if you aren't sure you want it?

The challenge is there are no M2s out there to test drive...only what you read...
some folks may have had the opportunity to have driven both...if there are some previous threads...please post the links... |

No way I would pick M2 over M4 (or M3) for any reason, other than price. Nothing particularly purist about M2. Just a cheaper car. I had posted a detailed review of M2/3/4 "///M track day @LRM" last summer. Search for more info. a

There's no way that I'd get rid of a ZCP M for the M2. OP, would you have given up your E90 M3 for a 1M (...arguably a much harder decision than a M4 to M2 swap)?

M2 is a wanna be M3/M4 with less power, less gimmicks and features and a worse car in every category. It's for people who want to have an M3/M4 but can't afford it |

Possible........and highly likely in many cases.............but its aesthetics and smaller proportions do appeal to some much more than the larger proportions of the M3/M4 (...which is why some M3/M4 owners have made the switch downward), so it isn't completely fair to say that every situation is strictly cost related. |

The M2 drives better than the M3/M4. More power, more options doesn't neceassily make a better car. The M2 kind of reminds you of what M cars use to be.
Keep the ZCP M3 if you care about the status it brings. The M2 is just a fun car to DRIVE. |

I have no interest in the M2. You already own the better car.

I agree here, I will also add M2 sounds a little better but it's a slower car in every category.

So many points of contention here. The M2 driving better is subjective. What is better? Is better smoother? Rougher? More agile? More controlled/predictable? To some people, more power and options DOES make a better car. Just look at how many people consider cars simply for the power they produce, and disregard interior quality, craftsmanship, etc. of some of the lower powered competitors. Assuming that driving an M3/M4 is all about status is another example of myopic thinking. How about more interior room? Better interior quality and styling? Aesthetic appeal? Etc. From my perspective, it is the size and the styling of the M2 that turns me off. I hate the front/rear bumpers and I don't care for the interior. That is enough for me to disregard it completely.

Also, they could have made it a big hit but they didn't, why do all colors have the same blue stitching on the leather? I know I am not picking but when I am paying a premium, it has got to have it all, or at least me to add the options I want. |

Say whatever you want about the M2 but it's a step down from the M3/M4. Unless it's about money, why bother?
The whole allure of the M2 is that it's ALMOST like the M4 but cheaper. |

The M4 is the better car hands down. The M2 looks like its been chopped off in the rear in comparison. Also, the interior of the M2 is incredibly cheap in comparison to the M4. You get a choice of what? 4 colors with the M2? Stay with the M4 you'll regret moving down to an M2.
