The ISF is good driver's car though. I have the IS250 from the same generation and while slow, it's handling/steering/chassis tuning is more driver-focused than any F30 I've driven. It's quite the enjoyable daily driver.

340 is powerful but sort of numb too.

Me too!!! I had the pleasure of tracking One at Monticello Motor club back in 2009 when they were fresh to the Market. And let me say...Wow it was a blast to drive! I beat the hell out of that car and it couldn’t get enough! I would take One now in a heart beat. But they are hard to find.

Ok, good for the 340i. Yawn.

ISF was a good but not great car since no manual transmission.

So by your logic a Viper ACR is a great car because it has a manual 6 speed; but a Koenigsegg Agera R is only a good car because it uses a DCT?

Manual is best and M3 has both.

1. You didn't answer my question.

2. Manual is fun, but it is not inherently better. In fact, by every measurable quality a DCT is better than a manual. Faster, More precise, less wear, etc.

3. Recognizing a car as "best" simply for the transmission it has is juvenile. you are rating an M3 as "best" while, by comparison, downgrading the literal fastest car in the world because it "isn't manual"...

This is a strong argument. Escalating from daily drivers to the top of the supercar market to half ass a straw man. Well played!

The tesla roadster has no tranny and is the fastest car and will likely still be the fastest production vehicle when it goes into production.

Fast is cool but that feat is mitigated by its range. You can’t drive it fast or even rapidly for long, unlike a traditional engine. I can drive a Viper ACR, which probably gets only 9mpg, from NJ to FL with minimal interruption unlike the Tesla. But i do love what Tesla has done to disrupt the automotive industry.

Just to continue the derailment, but no one with a $150k+ car is bothered by this as they a) don't drive long distances instead of flying and/or b) have other cars.

This is sort of the same argument about an R8 or similar not having space for golf clubs or an Everest expedition. People have other cars or Sherpas for that sort of thing.

No different than thinking a 0-60 gimmick represents any real world usefulness. I guarantee range will be a priority over 0-60 for most buyers.

Absolutely. Also why I continue to ignore all EV's with less than a 300 mile range. Anything less is too much of a compromise.
