That is unless the F31 M Performance model is something very special (if it's ever announced). Any news on it yet?
RS4 Avant never came to U.S. they only sell RS5 coupe
Well you're not missing much hahahaha

(kidding - respect where due rs4 is a bit of a monster)
I love the M3, but I feel that an Audi just looks better as an avant. The M3 will always remain a car that looks best as a coupe.

Audi, for some reason, has the avant segment down better than bmw. RS4 Avant just makes so much more sense than M3 wagon.

You might be right, but M confirmed it fits the F30 plus it's got RHD xdrive capability. Guess we'll have to see....

One thing for sure is a monster diesel F31 would sell even better than the hypothetical F81 in the UK

I think the middle air scoop on the bumper needs more emphasis. It looks like it could pass as an M-Sport bumper. Could be just me though.

Sounds like you have not driven a wagon before. They are unbelievably capable and versatile, more so than any SUV. And they handle like a sedan. This car will never happen, so I wouldn't be too worried.

As for a matter of half-assing it, I would direct you to turbocharging and electric steering. BMW is a shadow of it's former self. So if you can't find anything worthwhile in the new approach, I'd take a look at a nice used model. They are still awesome.

Oh yes! This real M car would sell very good. But those irresponsible guys in Munich are so fixed on previous misexperiences about sales figures of a E61 M5, that they will not bring this F31 M3........unfortunately!
They will eventually loose quite many customers to both Audi (RS4....absolutely fantastic car) and Alpina B3 Biturbo. The later, just revealed at Geneva Motor show, points with a N54 real double turbo inline 6 version with 410 HP and 600 Nm torque, allowing a 0-100 km/h of only 4.2 sec while top speed ranks at 302 km/h for the X-drive.
Since this is convincing, BMW M lost one more customer. I already test drove the RS4, waiting now for the test of the Alpina before taking a final decision on which one to order.
The only decision already taken is : good bye M.
As Munich
As Munich continues investing time and money in market research to bring more stupid models like 1 GT, 3 GT, 5 GT.....at the end those are all just unemotional pieces of waste, that are not part of BMW's identity....their clear goal is just to raise The brand to the same level of mass production than many other producers.
The policy of high productivity bringing enormous dividends to shareholders is more present in Munich than ever before......NO MORE SHEER DRIVING PLEASURE

Oh yes, you're so right.
But at the end, they will bring a quattroturbodiesel V8 xdrive with an extra shot of sound simulator engine noise to make it sound like a car....haha....
Diesel....that's the future......why not build trucks......MB do great at this.......and make lots of money so shareholders get great dividends......

Have to chime in... With a growing family and changing priorities I too would probably snap one of these up in a heartbeat. Assuming it came with a real transmission (at least as an option), i.e. the DCT. I probably would not buy it with a traditional automatic.

Add me to the list of current E90 owners who would put a deposit on this today if it were coming to the US. My wife's daily driver is a 2010 A6 Avant and while we love the supercharged 6 in that car, the handling leaves a lot to be desired. Sadly Audi isn't brining the A6 Avant or S6 Avant to the US so when we replace that car we're very likely to be shopping MB for the first time for an E63 wagon. That's a little bigger than we really want/need (one 3 year old son and one very chunky English bulldog) so an M3 wagon would be perfect.

Please BMW... reconsider.

M3 wagon will be tiny.

E63 wagon is rouhgly the same size as the A6 avant. And keep in mind there's always the in-between with the E350 wagon.

In between? The E350 and E63 wagons are the same but for AMG engine and handling modifications.

The E63 wagon is marginally larger than our A6 wagon in almost every respect. Net/net, if feels and drives lot bigger. Of course, it's also a LOT more powerful.

The E350 does nothing for me. It feels substantially more floaty, less powerful and less fun to drive than our current A6 avant.
