Thoughts on new 420hp twin turbo V6 engine for CTS?

Non V version CTS top of the line engine will have more HP/tq than the f80?!

I can tell you that there is no way in hell I am buying the new m3 unless it has 450 horsepower at the very LEAST. Sorry 400 or 415 just does not cut it when everyone is going bigger.

Sadly the only choices for a high strung NA motor is becoming porsche, audi and ferrari and lambo of course.

Ill just jump into an R8 v10 when the next gen comes out. 400 hp m3 will simply get slaughtered by teh competition

I'm interested to see how its tuned when its put in the ATS-V. I think it will make 450/435 or somewhere around that.

I wouldn't worry about the CTS-V anymore. It'll probably be 600+hp and a good bit more expensive than the current one.

That car doesn't compete with the M3. It competes with the 5 series....probably the 550i which has more hp.

Often GM hp is Sae verified. Well the ATS 2.0t is verified and claimed at 272hp and smiler torque yet the 328 n20 dynos as much or more even though its rated at 240hp.

So if the M3 is rated at 415hp, I am willing to bet It will still dyno for more than the 420hp rating of the new 3.6TT.

It is but I found out the m3 will almost definetly come with a sliding armrest given that I did not know the e90 3 series in the US did not have one except for the m3 which I have. So yes if they don't have that feature I will not get one regardless. If they do then I will only get one if they have 450 hp or more.

what about cupholders? what is your minimum nmber of cupholders? do they have to be of a certain size (double gulp or larger) or will skinny 'smaller beverages are the norm' euro-style cupholders be ok? oh, also: must the cupholders be made of titanium or will really-plastic but metalic looking pieces be ok?

and while we are on the topic of 'really important features that have nothing to do with the quality of the car', can you give us your honest, important and deeply held requirements on the size of the vanity mirror on the passenger sunvisor? how many square inches does it have to be? what wattage on the lights beside the mirror? like if they arent AT LEAST 85 W my old lady cant pretty herself up right when we drivin and she aint gonna like it...... know what i'm sayin? yeah. you know *exactly* what i'm sayin......

If you want hp go buy a corvette or GT-R. I really hate when people start demanding these stupid outrageous unusable horsepower #'s and manufacturers keep making cars bigger and fatter and way out of touch with the driver. Take a look at a E-30 compared to a E-92 and you will see the e92 looks like a 5 series compared to the little m3. Drive them both and even though the E92 will smoke it in lap times and performance the E-30 is the car that you will want to drive. Whats next a 1000hp 5000 pound M3 with 22 inch wheels, awd to put the power to the ground, full of electronic nanies so your average joe can drive it and brag to their friends "look how fast i can go", and heavy seat that massages your scrotum while you out drag the guy in the cobra? I would rather have a 2900-3000 pound M3 with 400 HP than a 3600 fat ass car with 500.

I did didnt I.

Its just ridiculous how easy it is to drive those car's fast and how out of touch they feel. GT-R forum peeps hated when i said i was selling the car because it felt electronic and numb, i got so bored of daily driving it and tracking that i completely lost the passion i had for that car. And this is a car i have always wanted to own since the R32 GT-R version was around, you start to loose that passion the moment you dont feel involved with the driving and this tends to happen when manufacturers start putting hybrid system's mated to huge engines to meet fuel economy regulations as well as performance demands by the market. I think the HP race between audi, bmw, cadillac, and mercedes is ridiculous. I hope automakers go back to basics and start focusing on light weight technology instead of compensating with huge hp numbers, huge wheels, and brakes for their fat ass mess.

Amen to that! Light weight 3000lb car with 400 hp please. I do have to admit though the current cts-v all black with a 6 row your own gears box has my attention. And used they are super cheap/er then an m3 and easy to modify, but theyre still a pig @ 4100lbs. Still it would be an awesome car to have for the money.

And actually the car that has me super excited is the upcoming M2!! Id looove to see what its going to be all about weight and hp wise. This may be my very first real M car. Sorry M235i but something about the M badge being in fornt of it just does not sit well...

That is what Alfa Romeo has done with the 4C. What are the opinion?

- basic interior
- 4 cylinders
- only 240 PS
etc.

The CTS-V is a very mixed bag. The engine power, suspension, and steering are great. The rest, not so much... Things like the fairly poor interior quality, big gaps between front bumper and headlights, a gearbox that's easy to mis-shift because 3rd and 5th are too close due to the placement of reverse, really bad fuel economy and range between visits to the gas station, heavy weight even though the car isn't particularly big or spacious.

I think you are posting in the wrong forum. You have no idea what you are talking about and your comparisons are just comical. An Audi R8 V10..... REALLY? How in gods name does that compare to a BMW M3?

The E92 M3 is 3700 lb. Is it fat ass?

If they make the F80 under 3000 lb., I'll be first in line sight unseen.
