267 km/hr is 166 mph...

However, much prior discussion here found the E92 M3 to be 3-4% slower than indicated speed (via GPS). That still can't make up the gap to 166 mph.

I heard some hearsay somewhere that the system on the M5 used a "rolling" encryption such that on each power up there is a different key and this was a contributing factor to the difficulty there. I also heard additional hearsay that one work around (for the M5 and likely as well for the M4) was just buying a new ECU.

Yup I've hit 161mph on the speedo so 166 is rather meaningless...

That said I just wanna see more info and congratulate GSR if these are true flashes and not just something like the "press files" we saw on the m5 and were rebranded bmw competition files.

InD said something of the liking, that the encryption were on par with military grade.

^that should be an easy yes or no for GSR

Why don't you post the boost logs from your baseline and tuned Dyno's? That data should already be available and easy to show us!

I don't see any of those items as being a secret if you truly have a tune.
Agreed. I say at this time we are limited to bench tuning, but i'd love to be proved wrong.

Just a sidenote, i had experience with Matt (aka PedM5) from Powerchip. If there was just one good thing about PC, it was Matt. To my understanding he recently started the Jailbreak tuning and fixes PC's crap tune for free. Stand up guy.

When you say bench tuning you mean we send our ECU out to them and they modify who knows what?

LOL... Cobb needs to get their hands on this encryption asap. I will gladly wait a year for a proper solution.

Just what this car needed, MORE torque. Lol. Thank god that driveshaft is carbon fiber. Geeez.
These things are gonna be collectibles because half of 'em are gonna end up in the woods wrapped around a tree.
That ECU was cracked quickly.

M5/M6 does have rolling encryption, if you crack ONE software version, it only works on that version, period.

By the time anyone cracks one version there are xxx numbers of BMW software revisions, therefore making the software crack already obsolete.

Just my $0.02, looking forward to more info as it becomes available for F8x.

I have been dealing with one of the best and oldest BMW tuners about the F10 M5 and F8x M3/4 tuning options for the past year and a half. There are only 3 ways to program the F8X.

1. Crack the CIA grade RSA encryption that no hacker on earth has done yet.

2. Figure out a way to disable the RSA encryption so you can load a file.

3. Have a BMW RSA security signed tuned file or the ability to replicate this security signature for a non BMW file.

Once this is done a tuner would need time to ID all of the controls in the ECU to alter boost, ignition, air and fuel etc.. For anyone to think all of this was done in 2-3 weeks of the car being released is just crazy. If it was as simple as some seem to think why was it not done on any of the F series cars that have been out for years? Also, why has a company like Dinan who has a lot of contacts switched to piggyback tuning all of a sudden on the F series?

Still waiting for GSR to provide more concrete evidence!

Yeah. Soldering does suck. However GSR mentioned they do it through OBD-II so i'm wrong it seems. Not that i'm unhappy about that :P

Exactly. Not sure how this is being done so quick? Nice tease though.

Lack of low rpm torque is NOT turbo lag. After reading that I have trouble believing any of the qualitative claims

No way it was cracked this quick by a random shop!

If the M5 ecu was never cracked then the F80 def won't ever be!

Rumor is the F-series encryption key was leaked. Other shops are working on tunes as well.

I'm in for more information.

OP - Not doubting you but those are some pretty LOW baseline numbers. My car put down 424/425 bone stock, not a single mod.

Hope you guys prove me wrong and this is a real file/flash (not just a bmw euro file)

Why would BMW not have just done this themselves? Serious question.

The fact that GSR can't even reply to their own thread or post more dyno files makes me think they don't have a thing.

Any company that has developed a tune would be more open and wouldn't have a problem to post any info regarding the new tune.

I say GSR don't have a tune or not even close to have one.

Clear hyperbole... If you really think this is anywhere close to CIA grade... Now again, not saying that the CIA doesn't use RSA but so does your purchase of car wax through ebay and paypal...
