I thought so also, but it is very interesting to see when boost is coming in, and how much power you are using for daily driving. It will definitely teach me a lot about the car!

That looks so awesome. I just wish something like this could be displayed directly on navi screen.

Hi guys,

I just had the new Awron Guage Panel installed at eas and the results in my opinion are mind blowing.

My initial reservations:
-Loss of airflow due to removing one A/C vent?
-Will the Awron look OEM and match the quality of my $82k vehicle?
-Will the amber color graphics match the OEM amber in the vehicle?
-Will I lose my cruise control speed function?

After install impressions:
-Incredible display graphics and animations. Looks like a retina display on an iphone. Animations look like they are from Minority Report-super smooth and most impressive is that they are able to render in real time as you step on the gas.
-Plastic bezel looks to be a 100% match to the OEM plastic. It actually makes me wonder if Awron is the supplier of the OEM vents since the match is so spot on-even in various lighting conditions (sun, direct flash, fill flash, dome lights)
-Amber color used on the Awron is 100% match to the OEM color
-Cruise control speed wheel still works. Basically once you have cruise control set, the speed +/- wheel bypasses the Awron and just controls cruise control speed. When you de-activate cruise control, the speed +/- wheel goes back to Awron control

Conclusion:
This is my first guage panel and I could not be more pleased. It upgrades the tech feel of the interior and really makes the vehicle seem like its a step up from the regular 3/4 series models. Looks so OEM that everyone thinks it came in the car-which is exactly what I was hoping for as I am not a fan of the tuner look.

Looks awesome! Too rich for my blood, though.

I like the idea, but removing the air vent is a definite no no for me. Now everything looks just looks kinda off, id have to remove the air vent next to it feel better about the look. Wish they had a better way to integrate it, oh well. Definitely cool though...

it is expensive, but for something you see and interact with every single time you drive the car, I think its worth it. I always said that steering wheel upgrades are the biggest bang for your buck since its the one thing you touch every time you drive, but this is definitely giving that a run for the money!

I like that 5th photo the best, but probably would opt to keep the vent myself. Wish stuff like that could be in the dash or idrive console. Id be interested to see a YouTube video of the operations!!

Edit: looks like they posted your car on YouTube already, pretty cool

$1k? I thought that thing was around $200. I'd rather just code M Lap timer and call it a day. It looks too busy in the pics.

That's awesome!

Would you mind dratalogging or reading boost pressure and intake air temperature under road driving and full acceleration. We saw on the YouTube video that it recorded 20psi of boost but also saw IAT of 140deg F (probably this was on a dyno?). According to BMW, the max boost is 18psi (1,25bar). But full boost is reserved for high altitude and/or high temp.

Would be interesting to see what boost and IAT you get on the road!

And what is the max power and torque readings you get as well.

Thanks!

I don't really mind the price, and I've been eyeballing them for a while, but I really don't want to give up that vent. That's my favorite vent!

I'd connect the brightness control of the screen to the vent control:

No need, it can be controlled from the steering wheel.

You hit the nail on the head. There's a LOT of info readily available in such a small package. Awron also private labels for for Alpina, which is a highly respected name in the BMW community.

Don't need to be on the track to monitor engine vitals. Water Temp, Oil Temp, Transmission Temp, Oil Pressure are all important.

Here's a demo video on all the features:
