paint or clear coat smoothness?

Hi guys just a quick question. If you run your finger down the hood onto the bumper so from aluminum onto plastic should you be able to feel a difference in smoothness? As if the hood was freshly waxed but the bumper was not?

Friend of mine recently got his bumpers painted and noticed a very subtle difference in the feel. Color match looks perfect though. so wondering if the clear coat is messed up or if this is normal. Thanks

Could be some overspray. I'd try claying it at some point to see if it smooths out. Sounds normal after body shop work but not normal otherwise.

Any roughness I felt after I picked up my resprayed car needed to be addressed with clay. If that doesn't help, then yes, may be messed up.

Thanks for response. I got paranoid about it so I started running my finger down a couple other cars and noticed that my sprayed bumper feels just like the paint on any other car and that my hood was in fact way smoother that normal which is what threw me off. like I would slide off of it if I leaned against it. So I guess I shouldn't be worried?

wash it, clay it, polish it, seal it

problem fixed and solved.

If they just did the repair on the bumper, they probably haven't waxed it, but instead used a filling polish. So if your hood is freshly waxed, and the bumper isn't, then there would be a difference. If you used a coating and maintenance spray on your car, and the bumper doesn't, then there will be a difference.

Or it could be overspray as well.
